Teddy is one of our greatest Presidents. No wonder why he's on Mount Rushmore with Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln. Also, nice casting! Of course, I'm glad you included your mistakes, as that's the best way to learn.

It's a small nuisance and a good experience. One day, a drop of unexpected rain fell into the mold for casting and an explosion occurred.I got molten bronze in my face, a week after that I went happy and was glad that I had my two eyes. I closed my eyes in time and the molten bronze got into my eyelids . Follow the safety regulations. ))) Hello from Russia.

@@lundgrenbronzestudios Agree, name is most important. With a reputation some of your works could have easily sold for thousands, or God knows what in a frenzy auction. Some of picasso's paintings suck imo, he did alot of them for peanuts, then one day someone anointed him god?). Other pricing factors include size, subject demand and quality(physical and aesthetics(does it look real/genuine, etc)). One of the problem's with eBay auctions is limited buyers in a short amount of time. If you do a fix price for 1 month more people will see it, and if it does not sell at your listed price, ebay automatically relists it for you every month for thirty cents extra each month, I think. Art prices are pretty finicky and it may take awhile to sell, but if they haven't sold after a year then your ask maybe too high (at least until you build a reputation which just takes time).

I could see the explosion of molten bronze coming, and the fail from the vacuum :D (probably cos i've done that myself, more times than I'll ever admit in public haha) I've discovered that you can buy both sheets of thick 3-5mm rubber/silicone that can be carefully cut to shape to slot in the big flasks (don't forget expansion allowance, i do still lol), by itself that's only good for a handful of castings before it needs replacing, hence my previous suggestions to use the silicone windowy stuff. To counter the awful lifespan of that rubber tho, you can buy sheets of graphite from your fav auction site, 300x300x3 should be big enough, then cut that to size to go over the rubber, adn between it and the flasks. That way you'll still get the airtight seal you'll need, plus the extended lifespan of rubber due to the graphite acting to protect the more rubber ring. At least that's the theory anyway xD

How hot do you have your flasks for pouring. I’m thinking I have them too hot. I pull them out at about 1100°F

@@lundgrenbronzestudios I haven't done bronze for a while, but around that is what I use for my trees full of small things. I think you can drop it a few hundred F if you're just doing chunky pieces and not super thin detailed pieces with like 0.2mm lettering n details or lower, but they should be fine with the usual temp. Too low and thermal shock will make the plaster crack and you'll have the metal run away lol

Yeah, I was thinking "no, no, that's too hot, don't put it in the water...!" 😮 Favorite president is Thomas Jefferson, but the statue of Andrew Jackson on the horse might be an interesting challenge if you can find a model of it! 👍

I don’t know a lot about Andrew Jackson. I think he liked to duel people though. I’ve seen that statute though. It’s amazing.

9:14 the way you're moving Teddy on the belt, looks like he's riding a wave or skateboard Fitting, as I'm sure he would've tried his hand at both had he been in the time periods

Could it be possible, instead of 3d printing an positive model. Print a negative mold. And use it to cast wax positive models for doing lost wax. No ash left behind.

@@lundgrenbronzestudios Printing the mold is interesting. Remember reading several years ago experiments were being done printing molds from metal casting investment slurries, so technically no pattern was necessary. All you had to do was melt and pour the metal in the printed investment mold. Not sure if technology has advanced, but do remember the initial cost for an "investment printer" was huge. Regarding printing PLA molds, not sure, but printing a PLA mold should be easy if you have the PLA code (just let some software program inverse it, right?). AI is pretty amazing these days.

I dig the heat treated patina! What do you think of doing a video comparing brass vs bronze vs pewter vs aluminum vs silver? Maybe casting the same shape like a bell?

Niiiiiiiice. Have you looked into the castable wax resins for MSLA printing? The prices are starting to become reasonable and I've seen people get fantastic results on jewelry sized items. Wonder if it scales up.

Smart move on the hole repairs -can't even tell! Looks like your holes had natural undercuts so the peened-in metal repairs from cut sprue bits will be permanent. If holes hadn't left undercuts then one simply dremels em in. Good eBay move I think. You might want to list Teddy's weight and dimensions. Also, ebay now allows videos, not just pictures, and you'd be a natural doing a 360 panoramic video short of Theodore, along with some of your captivating color commentary! Very interesting facts on President Roosevelt, aka The Rough Rider, Bull-Moose, The Lion, The Colonel, Teddy, Teddy Bear, etc. Not surprising Rough Rider extraordinaire is one of the four presidents permanently enshrined on Mount Rushmore. Lincoln's my personal favorite. Affordable presidential bronzes are not commonplace, and all those Abe fanatics just might push an auction price up pretty good ; -) Genius -Congrats Again!

Yeah The holes did have natural undercuts. I didn’t show it but I did dremel the undercuts a little more too. I will have to do a Lincoln as well. I had someone else say Lincoln was their favorite.

I follow the same as a wax burn out so about 8-10 hour of high temperature about 1000°F. Give or take.

Can you do a customised animal statue ??
