Making ART with scrap metal!

Making a spider out of an old lightbulb, scrap metal, and recycled electronics. I make all kinds of different sculptures out of parts I get disassembling old electronics. If you've got any questions about the process or anything art related I'll do my best to answer any comments! I'd love to know what you guys think of this piece, and let me know what you'd like to see me make next!

    I love how you share the process and experience, burns and all. It's such a clever use of electronics and mechanical pieces to create artwork. I've spent the last 50 years with electronics in my life and you have put a new perspective to it. Well done and keep it up as you have much to offer this new generation. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

    This is awesome! Have you considered getting some "helping hands" style clamps to hold pieces in place when you are welding them together? Might make things easier! Keep up the good work!

    Originally I was using just superglue, I’ve only had the welder for the past year, it was a big investment but necessary for a big commission I got. With just superglue they’re more fragile but it’s all I used for about 9 years!

  • @sjiva7061

    I love seeing the proces! And the length for me is just right. I wonder, seeing this, do you glue parts before you weld? And if so, is there no risk of flames developing?

  • @zakmiskrycreations

    @zakmiskrycreations

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks Sjiva! So to weld you need an electric current between both metal parts, which means if you glue them, the electricity can’t conduct because the glue has blocked it! So because of this if you glue parts together usually you can’t weld them

  • @sjiva7061

    @sjiva7061

    @@zakmiskrycreations Thank you! I was wonderi g this because in the last bit, when you talk about attaching the lightbulb, you mention both using welding and superglue. As the spots you weld and the parts you glue are in such a close proximity, I was wondering how that would work. Do you first weld, then glue?

  • @zakmiskrycreations

    @zakmiskrycreations

    Жыл бұрын

    @@sjiva7061 so for this what I did was I glue the nuts to the bulb, and then weld those nuts to the thorax, because there’s no glue between the nuts and the thorax I can still weld it! Like this bulb -(glue)- nuts *weld* thorax

  • @zakmiskrycreations

    @zakmiskrycreations

    @sjiva7061 the current can flow through the nuts and thorax, but not between the nuts and the bulb, does that make sense?

    I use micro pulse arc welding, because its on a small scale, but yes in principle arc welding with a rod would work, it just would probably be more visible where you've welded!
