    I have to make a teapot for my college course coming up and I’m dreading it. Teapots are one of the hardest thing to make on wheel more less by hand. I have to make it by hand. To slab build or coil build something and it come out like this is amazing. No fingerprints, no unevenness, smooth body and parts is just amazing.

    Teapots are extremely easy to make on the wheel. The only part that is difficult is spout forming, but give it two weeks of dedicated practice and that too will be easy.

    You inspired me to build a teapot for my Dad. I recently dug out a bunch of clay from my garden. Nothing makes you appreciate the the work of a master like trying to accomplish his task from memory. Mine is not near as pretty as yours but I hope it makes it through the fire my Dad runs at least one pot of tea through it. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your craft

    95% are hand made, before to make a teapot you have to make the tools first, and most different teapot need different tools, but not all, some tools can be used at all kind of teapots.

    As a child I read a story about an impatient and arrogant apprentice who who he learnt every thing he needed to make a teapot from the maste6, except the last and most important part: the hole in the lid that allows the liquid to pour out smoothly. I've watched a few of these teapot making videos but didn't see them making the hole, is it necessary?

  • @globalteahut

    @globalteahut

    3 жыл бұрын

    It is necessary. but this wasn't a real functional pot. As stated in the narration, this would ordinarily be done over days, not in an hour. This is just a demo pot. But a good story, nonetheless :)!

    @@melliethemortician Yixing teaware does go through a firing process in an oven. This pot was made for demonstration to show roughly how these pieces are made. The real pot will take several days or even weeks to finish. This pot would never be sold and will just be broken down into clay that can be reused. That's why it didn't go into the oven :)
