Making a Victorian Top Hat ASMR

Blocking and trimming an 19th century style top hat. As always, full video with voice over is on my main channel. This is a quiet version of the construction if you prefer to work along side or for the ASMR!

Fascinating, I've always wondered how top hats were made.

That was super cool to watch. I have a vintage hat block for a bowler hat that I found at a yard sale. I had no idea how to use it but I wasn’t going to leave it to be trashed with everything else that didn’t sell. A top hat is more my style but I might just have to try making a bowler since I’ve got the tools for it❤

This is not the way that a true top hat was made. I own three from the period. They are not beaver felt steamed over a form. They are made from actual beaver pelt, still on the skin, and stretched over a mounded cardboard foundation. I don't know how this was achieved. I have never found any record but the effect is completely different.

It’s a “true” top hat regardless of the material or the method used to make it.
