This waistcoat jacket is 100% the vibes. I would wear this to any and all fancy events, and I want it in blue/bronze and purple/black.

Yooo those are some excellent color schemes too, if I ever find cheap brocades in those colors I'd love to make more 👌

@@PricklyAlpaca helll yeahhhh I hope you find those fabrics! Also I forgot to say, but that cabinet is SUCH a steal 👌 10/10 ~☆~ Aesthetic ~☆~ snack cabinet
You weren't kidding about the 5 stages of grief there. My wife had a solid minute of trying to figure out how to get a seam ripper into the hands of your past self. Glad you made it out the other side with a fashionable, aesthetically delighting waistcoat. A huge thank you to Ellie for guest executive-producing this episode! P.S. The slow-mo bed dive in the Brooklinen ad was majestic and what all bedlinen commercials should aspire to.
Ooh a remake video for the pirate coat would actually be really cool, especially since it’s an old project, it’d be cool to see how much you’ve grown :o

Agreed!
Got my entire squad to roll out of our depression holes (aka our beds) for every upload because now our entire friend group has joined the fan base 😎❤️
I don’t think trying to sew ‘the right way’ is making things boring at all! Your editing skillz keep things entertaining and the stuff that you make is so full of dopamine that it makes me happy to see you growing in your processes and being able to thank your past self
6:46 IS THAT THE MUSHRROM LAMP !? also, thank you ellie! good video this week!

That's what I thought!!
First: shame on Hierbert!!!! Second: Thank you Elle❤ third: it definitely looks much better without a collar forth. Do you need a seamreaper ??? Let me buy you one, those were some biiiig scissors 😁 fifth may I ask for you to say hi to executive producer absolutely adore her screen time in this video🥰 sixth that jump on a bed was so stunningly performed I giggled for at least 5 minutes😁 lost count but the garment look amazing and I love that you kept the original details of a sketch in the back I am only kinda wish you had those flowy sleeves from sketch too😁😁😁
You killed it! Great job. Just a side note; Singer and Brother were bought out by a Chinese company several years ago and their machines just aren’t made the way our grandmothers were. Save yourself the headache and just get a Janome, you’ll be glad you did I promise. ❤❤

I was gunna say skip the plastic garbage and find a vintage all-metal machine. Usually much cheaper than a new plastic one. (I had one of those singer “heavy duty” ones. The plastic gears were completely shot in under a year and it wasn’t remotely actually heavy duty. Older singers much better, but I totally fell in love with Necchi machines and technically have 6 now. 💜

I have a Brother machine that's pretty heavy duty and it's great (bought 2 years ago) every online review for a Singer machine I've seen has been bad 😶

I essentially inherited a Husqvarna from the early '90s and, while I really ought to bring it in and see what maintenance it needs, it's been fine
I can't get over how both delicate and swol Kira is. Goals. The perfect balance.
OMG I WAS PRAYING SHE'D MAKE THIS ONE WHEN SHE FIRST DREW IT OUT, ITS BEAUTIFUL!! 🤩
The reveal unlocked a core memory from my early teens when twilight was all the rage, I read a book called Vampirates and I am certain this clothing piece would definitely be worn by the main character
The entire reveal I was just like “queen!! This is queen shit!!! The queen is back!!!” And I can’t agree more with my own brain
What if you desinged Bug knights or flower witches for a character design video? (orchid mantis for a knight and wisteria for a witch?) Love the video btw!❤ Edit:Thank you Ellie!🙏♥️♥️
Thank you, Ellie! This turned out great - good call on taking off the lapels. It would have been cute with them, but without them it's ✨ magnificent ✨.
Sounds like your cat is trying to make you feel better with cuddles. With unfortunate timing.😄 I love how creative and beautiful your designs are!
You may have gone through the 5 stages of grief, but you came out with a wonderful piece of clothing! Also, is the weird structure in the mess perhaps... the mushroom lamp?
The Sanrio sewing machine is so cute! Shout out to your friend, Ellie, for saving the project!💛💕
Oh my fricking god!!!! So amazing!! It was a good call removing the collar btw. The fabric has such a presence on its own, the collar was just too much imo. The executive producer is such a sweet girl! I love how she's like "Mama it's ok! I will distract you with my cuteness so you aren't stressed out!" ❤.
It could have been a fancy arm chair cover

I was also thinking chair covers of some sort! My grandma had some chairs with covers on them, not as large, fancy and tasseled as these ones tho :P
@PricklyAlpaca this magnificent jacket is giving pirate-core/Victorian boss-babe aesthetic and I FREAKIN LOVE IT!! 🥰 Ps. A tip for dying fabric, it’s best to start with a fabric that’s the lightest color of the gradient you want to make, and use a darker fabric dye. To create the fade, first have the fabric be wet and dip the wet fabric in the dye pot gradually while the dye is warm but not too hot (depending on the fabric it could mess up if it’s too hot) leaving the fabric in the dye at the ends longer to make it the darkest to your desired shade.. 😎 Also It might help to dye the cut pattern pieces to better control the gradients~ 💖
You inspired me to start sewing and I made my first skirt today! I'm so glad your channel has went into the sewing and cosplay route, while still remaining magical and artistic. I wish to be as good as you one day
7:51 Seeing the old attempt at a pirate coat gave me an idea for a pirate coat made from an old jacket that widens and lengthens in red and gold like a compass star, it would probably need to be relined in gold to fit everything together.
Always lovely to see the chaotic gremlin queen herself! Huge thanks to Ellie
I think the brocade fabric used to be one of the covers for one of the arms of a couch! Very pretty btw

I thought it was a Christmas tree base cover lol
Another vampire outfit another great job
Without the faux leather lapel it really does look a lot better, also I love your red velvet top you’re wearing in parts of the intro and then underneath the cool new vest! Your designs just baffle me from time to time, like, I know people make these cool things bc I see them in KZread videos and on renfaires but like.sometimes seeing it for from "you know what could be cool? A pirate vampire chair vest" to a. Beautiful sketch, to a pile of fabric pieces, to a finished & beautifully styled costume? I sew too but sometimes the process still has me bamboozled like I’m watching a magician explain his trick and then I’m still surprised when he pulls a bunny our of his hat or something. I’m rambling. Okay bye 😂
the „i‘m sorry, bernadette, i‘m not a handsewer“ got me 😂 she would be disappointed 😂
Oh my goodness I love all of the stickers on Ellie's sewing machine. Also- when is the last time you changed the needle in your machine? The only way I know how to fix sewing machines is to vacuum it out or switch the needle. This came out super cute!
A big thank you to Ellie to help bring this glorious pirate/vampire/chair waistcoat to life! It's so good!
Sobbing IT'S SO PRETTYYY I have no idea how you pulled that together in 2-ish days?? Expecting that you can make an entire fantasy nonsense garment in one day is insane and you are insane and I love your content. I don't know how you would think your videos are boring because I savor every second of your videos whenever they come out. Also thank you Ellie
that fabric is so beautiful omg!! 😍🤩 yes please do a video saving that Frankenstein jacket
If it could make you feel a little better, I also just got through the five stages of grief but with my personal knitting project. Spending hours upon hours knitting away only for the finished piece not to be what I've envisioned sure is something. One facet of being a crafter in general that wasn't talked about often is the failures along the way until we can arrive to something we really liked. That's why I liked tuning in to yours and Rachel's channel when I was making something to remind myself that it's fine to not 100% like what we made. A moment of silence for the time we spent doing something we regret, it wasn't wasted, because we learned something.
this slays so hard i also love furniture
I honestly can't believe we haven't been seeing her make matching ears for literally every vampire or elf inspired outfit. seems like a terrible idea, lots of work, and definitely something Kira would do
I love the transition between the worry about doing things too properly and boring to the chaos the rest of this process was 😂. At least it was VERY worth it, looking like old furniture is literally goals
Definitely worth it for the advantage on stealth rolls in aristocratic environments. Looks amazing and now I am just imagining a vampire fussing over not having anything new to wear for their first party in centuries, scrambling to put this together, and totally stunting on everybody with their entrance
For all that pain you got an amazing vibin jacket, the pain we crafters go through for our creations, bad of on heirbert and elle saving the day with her cute sewing machine
14:18 I Watch Thé Click and bought an Emotional Support Demon. Housemate brought the package to my sewing room where I was working. 5 minutes after Lil Fellow was opened I realized I needed to undo like an hour of work. The family joke is that he immediately determined that was the place I needed emotional support and he refuses to leave. Lil Fellow might have noticed I am not less chaotic everywhere else. However the day I had to repair the sewing machine because my aunt had an “I need to hem these slacks before I go on a 6 month trip” quest did have me questioning the hobby
You gave an absolutely stunning New Life to a pair of 80s tuscan-style valances. Excellent job! Also, I'm glad you tore off the lapels. I'm new to your channel and currently recreating your porcelain corset for my daughter. I really appreciate all your content. ❤
What a fantastic transformation! I love your creativity. I'd also love to see how you could salvage that old high school jacket project.
The chaotic energy that starts from 16:00 - 17:12 made me die laughing. That is completely me during cosplay season. It is pure rage. xD
I love how you put a song I VERY clearly remember from an iconic vampire movie into the video 1:47
The shot where you don't show up in the mirror in the reveal is so cool😭👍
That coat is GORGEOUS!! That fabric looks like it was Curtain swag. (Swag meaning fashionable hanging fabric)
love how in the mirror at the end we couldn't see her reflection (vampire vibes immaculate)
looking like fancy upholstery should always be a fashion goal (i say, staring at the fancy embroidered peacock linen waistcoat that's being especially hellacious to put buttonholes into).
It's giving mysterious, sexy, potentially a professional criminal tavern keep in a DnD campaign and I am living for it
Gets down on one knee while holding out an extremely detailed filigree detailed sword, "I platonically love your work"
This is serving some Regina Mills as Evil Queen vibes. Sorry you had such frustration. Sewing is fun! Really!
The Sanrio sewing machine is a whole mood!! Love how the upholstery jacket turned out - ditching the troublesome collar and lapels was a good idea. Side note: for the $17 cabinet, I think it would look really nice if you stained the piece of wood over it too match the darker color, and maybe varnished it. A bit of extra work, true, but it would really pull the two pieces together and make it look more unified and intentional.
As a new seamstress, I felt the pain of your sewing machine not working so deeply, it’s so frustrating
It actually turned out really well! Shout out to Ellie for saving the day!
Its giving medieval Doctor Strange to me and i love it
Ok but im getting all the victorian ringmaster vibes with this :0
Never be afraid to cut out your mistakes, no matter how much time they took you.
'im sorry Bernadette, I'm not a handsewer'. Never related to a statement this much
I highly recommend buying a seam ripper! It will make seam ripping so SO much easier and faster
"Trying to beautify my space" Me, seeing the posters in the background, and with zero sarcasm "you're doing a great job"
Glad to see a fellow Bernadette fan
This is my first video but the Jenna chair reference and her vids on in the back warms my heart ❤
this is the first I've heard whimsy goth. One pinterest search later and it's exactly what I've been trying to explain, fairy but dark, academia but flowy not stiff gah I'm so happy.
i would LOVE to see the pirate coat remake PLEASE
6:28 My favourite moment of the entire video.
Many thanks to Ellie, and this is absolutely something I would wear out to somewhere nice. Also, I'm pretty sure that fabric started as a pair of window valances, but I could be wrong.
I could be totally wrong cuz it's kinda hard to see, but I feel like that weirdly shaped piece of fabric could be an arm cover or other cover for a chair/couch?? Idk I've seen them in like old people's houses before haha it's cheaper than getting something reupholstered. Also I was obsessed with The Vampire Chronicles growing up and this look is giving Lestat and I love it 💖
those sheets make the sound that lungs make when people inhale puff mushroom spores (and I think that's a christmas tree skirt, i have one and it's the second best cape i own)
While having the microphone on this beautiful dagger is such a good idea, it also makes me very nervous to have it so close to your face. Please don't stab yourself ❤ Other than that, this waistcoat turned out so pretty!
11 seconds in and I find myself subscribing because I know that I will never find anyone says words better with the amazing accuracy that which with you speak them
i personally think that you should save that pirate coat....and make a pirate costume.....and make a layered gauze skirt that looks like it's ripped up.... and use different colourful fabrics as the layers....idk just an idea
I accidentally bought too much upholstery fabric and all the goals for your waistcoat is probably what I’m going to do with it now- thank you
The mom in me going, she's going to jab herself in the eye with that dagger the way she's throwing her head around.
I WAS CLICKING ON THIS WITH THE ‘THIS IS SO STEDE (BUT IN A VAMPIRE AU) CORE’ MINDSET SO WHEN I SAW YOU ACTUALLY PUT A PICTURE OF HIM I WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARD
17 bucks for that cabinet is a steal! poor herbert RIp that waistcoat looks great 😀 that fabric was so common in the 80s to try to make things look older 😝
This looks awesome! I love the little cape thingy that hangs, very assassins creed ❤
Yes! We must save the old pirate coat!!
My mom asked me what I was watching and I said "A sewing video" and she straight up didn't believe me because I never sew yet I watch all your sewing videos multiple times. I don't know if you need to hear this but tbh you could make a video of watching grass grow and if you had your commentary with it I'd still watch it multiple times so if you ever feel like you can't finish a sewing project for the week and are thinking of doing a more relaxing video but are worried about people being interested, i'll be there when's it dropping?
Thank you Ellie
14:47 Ellie is the MVP for this project!
"I'm sorry Bernadette" - also me, consistently
If you’re in the market for a new sewing machine, I would recommend the brand Husqvarna. They’re a little pricier, but they’re super reliable. My mom bought one USED in the like the early 90’s and that baby is still going strong. When I moved out I bought my own, the Viking Jade 20 model (also used) and I have no complaints! It’s a worthwhile investment.
I love the sides!! Thank you, Ellie, for volunteering your sewing machine.
curse you Herbert the sowing machine *explosion* also love your art and projects, this vid has helped me make my vest/ waistcoat for my formal
For some reason this reminds me of percy from critical role! The vibes are immaculate
That brocade is gorgeous! I love what you made with it. Uncooperative sewing machines are soo annoying!! ❤
the reveals at the end are always so ethereal and magic, A++!
The names of your executive producers sound like vampire emoji abler teens xD You have truly founded a coherent community
I think this thing is an arm cover for a large chair . Since there are two and the shape. I have two small ones that look just like those. I love the pattern and colors.
PIRATE COAT! PIRATE COAT! That would be amazing. I'm heavily entertained by your sewing videos.
I own that couch but with a rose patterned fabric! It was my personal item that "I didn't need but also kinda really did need" 😂
Thanks Ellie
Idk abt anyone else but it’s giving me Howl vibes from Studio Ghibli. It came out so good! I love it!! ❤
if your machine is not going to work you can get a second hand machine like those heavy ones like juki and if you dont use those different shaped stiches you can get it at cheaper price.. cause people say those heavy ones work better the more they are used and i think it is easy to know where the fault is in those types machine and they dont need the so called servicing which we end up ignoring
the pirate coat gives off Killian Jones vibes from Once Upon a Time.
the only bad thing about this video is that now i want one too thank you ellie for the use of your (adorable) sewing machine! (i can't wait to get one and decorate it with stickers now 10/10 idea)
No way you actually did this fit ! I already loved it during the design process of the last video but you manzged to translate irl so well, it looks amazing. Your hard work really payed off !
Whimsi-goth! Perfect new word to describe what I like!
Brazilian music for the background!! Hell yeah! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Not the Lost boys soundtrack in the background, I love it
love this!! commenting for the algorithm, wanna support your content!!
