Making a TV Picture Frame
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
We made a TV picture frame to compliment the other picture frames around our gallery wall.
The dimensions around the TV were measured for length, width and depth which measured about 35 x 20 x 5.5".
Using 1/2" thick poplar planks, we ripped the boards down to two strips of 35 x 5.5" and two strips of 21 x 5.5". We added an inch to the shorter side pieces to account for the thickness of the top and bottom boards.
Using a square, wood glue and brad nails we made a simple box attaching the end grain of the top and bottom boards to the side boards.
Using the left over strips from the planks, we squared them off to 1" width to frame around the box with mitered corners. Attaching these with wood glue and brad nails.
Once the glue dried, we filled the nail holes and sanded up to 220 grit using the orbital sander. Then finally wiped boiled linseed oil to protect the wood.
This was a quick and fun home decor diy project to spruce up our boring wall into a fun and functional gallery wall.
Hope you enjoyed the video!

Great job. the final product really looks nice. But one question remains; how did u finally put the frame? Is the frame resting on the TV or is it hanging on nails beneath the frame. Thanks

Thank you! The frame is just resting on the TV 🙂
Good work 👍. Btw you have very sharp hands 😂 new subcriber here 👋
What about ventilation. The the TV get extra hot after watching for a long time?

The box is not air tight by any means and there is a small gap (about 3mm) between the box and the wall. we've had this setup for almost a year without any issues!

Great tutorial, love the finished project.
Looks nice but is that not going to affect the sound coming from the tv or block WiFi and Bluetooth? 🤔

Since the box isn't air tight, nor is it completely sealed against the wall since walls are never completely straight. We haven't noticed any changes to the sound. Also, we haven't had any issues with WiFi or Bluetooth even with Amazon fire stick being our main source of entertainment. Similar to being able to receive wifi signal throughout rooms in the house through walls and doors, this box doesn't interfere at all. I suppose if we made the box out of metal then that would be another story. Thanks for watching and bringing up some good points!
Nice
Is it sitting on the tv or did you attach it to the wall somehow?

Just sitting on the TV and it’s held up fine all these years 🤷🏻♀️

What wood filler do you use
@IMEEMADE

I believe we used a DAP brand plastic wood filler for this project.

Ha! don't stress out. This is one of our first projects that we filmed, so there were many things that we were learning to do for the first time, including camera placement. Thanks for checking out the video though!
How did you hang it?
@IMEEMADE

The TV is mounted to the wall and the frame just hangs on the TV.
Well done! How much did it cost to make?
@IMEEMADE

Thank you! This was built pre-pandemic, costs of wood has gone up significantly but at the time I believe we paid around $30 for all the materials

@@IMEEMADE how would you know if that is a close box ? After few hours of using TV, remove the box and touch the top part of the tv from inside the box. You need to make ventilation holes at the top of the box and at the button for air flow
@IMEEMADE
3 жыл бұрын
@@MrRamkulov I know because it's not a sealed box and it there are plenty of air gaps around where it meets the wall. Don't worry we've had this project up and running for a couple years with no issues or overheating :)
