I never thought to ask, What do you do when the engines derails. How do you get the trains and cars out of the tunnel when the engine derails.

I echo KingCarl's sentiments exactly. Woodland Scenics have a plethora of great scenery products, but this video is likely to send beginners down the wrong path. Building such a long tunnel without access is sure to cause trouble, and even a short one shouldn't be glued together permanently until the inside is detailed.

I just bought the River pass layout kit. I did not open it yet. Do I need to lay this out on a 4x8 building board Styrofoam sheet first or right on to plywood. What would u recommend ? thanks

The River Pass Scenery includes the foam base panels the layout will be built upon. There is no need to purchase additional foam sheets or plywood.

A very nice video. My one question though, is as follows: If I'm building a tunnel on a slight incline (no more than a 2% grade), how would I go about ensuring the tunnel height remains consistent and trains don't get stuck halfway through?

For a consistent height, place the track and the tallest piece of your rolling stock at the entrance of the tunnel. You want to allow a minimum of ½” clearance from the top of the train. Measure the clearance at the entrance of the tunnel and make the rest of the tunnel walls the same height from the track, increasing the height of the tunnel walls along the incline. Then, use some Foam Nails to pin your track in place on the Incline/Decline. Pin the top of the tunnel in place on the walls and test run your train through the tunnel to check the clearance. Adjust the height of the tunnel as needed using scrap pieces of foam.

@@ModelSceneryExpert OK, thank you for letting me know. I'll likely be using KATO HO Unitrack (where the track is molded to the roadbed), so I'm wondering if that makes any difference.

The principle still applies. Put a piece of Unitrack down with the tallest piece of rolling stock.

how to clean your track in the tunnel

On the backside of the tunnels, cut out access panels. These allow you to access inside the tunnel area. Tunnels usually run along the outer edges of a layout, so access panels are not visible to the viewer. We also have a product line called Tidy Track. The Rail Tracker Cleaning Kit has a handle that can reach into tunnels. woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/Item/TT4550/page/1

What a shame... the video is really quite poor, but it's displaying some of the best products you can buy!
