That’s an extremely well built door, looks great. I have to admit I would have rather you didn’t paint it and just used something like an exterior hard wax oil instead but I see why you did it. And I appreciate it, anyway the main thing is the comforting fact that there is a super solid durable wood underneath which will last decades

Yeh, over here we use pine, and once painted white looks no different the the mahogany door painted white.... But the customer is always right, except when they are wrong
Seems like the router bit would have had an easier life if u had removed the bulk of waste on the bandsaw first ?? (Tenons) Or would that have slowed the job down... & was time important ?... i.e. are u in "production mode" here ?? 🙄 Nice vid... reminds me of working with my dad in a cabinet-making shop as a 15y.o. kid... sapele was as common as muck here ( in Ireland ) back then 😂 (60y.o. now)
i wish i had these skills and these tools... Great job!
Very good job, you took help from a helper while assembling , remaining all alone that's very great
I'm glad you addressed the paint- my mouth literally dropped open when you broke it out. Such beautiful work hidden away. The customer gets they want, even if they're bats*** crazy... If it were to be stained and sealed would you have used the same dowels?
It broke my heart when you painted it. :(

I didn`t intend to use this woodworking book, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* but instead curious about it. I had been truly amazed after trying it. It never dissatisfied me in my desire to have more information about the art of wood working. I discovered several topics such as wood types as well as designing your workshop..
Great work, as usual. wish I lived in NZ. Love to enroll in your classes. And, asking to paint your work should be a crime in NZ.
Excellent....congratulations !!

Sapele is a beautiful African wood....awesome job on that door 👍
I said “ew” out loud when I saw you pound in hardware store grade dowels into a mahogany door. You gotta pound them in beneath the surface, and plug them with grain matched face grain plugs. EDIT: nvm it got painted. That is a true tragedy. I would’ve protested that to the bitter end.

beautiful job on the door; i cried (only a little) at the paint, but, your reasoning is sound. and, the quality shines through. it's a gorgeous piece of workmanship. but, in my not-so-humble-opinion, it could've been gorgeouser. I think i just invented a new word.

Excellent craftsmanship! Sapele is a very durable wood, it’s just so beautiful that it hurts to see it painted 😂 Cedar might of worked just as well. Regardless it’s a timeless piece you built for them and that will be around for a long time
