Making a "Queen Size" Trip Around the World.
I lost count of how many messages I received asking for this video. I hope everyone who asked gets to see this. With this tutorial you will be able to make a Queen Sized Bed Spread. I love this pattern and have made it many times because it turns out looking SO different every single time. It changes with the colors you choose, etc. If you want this to be a King Spread? Just add borders.
We have patterns for this quilt and the baby quilt on our website now. (Also a much asked for pattern with our directions.) Please share it with your other quilting friends so that they too can make a Trip Around the World the easy way!!
Here is a link to the patterns on our website: www.merrymabelmarket.com/quil...

So beautiful! You simplify all the steps so well. I love that you don’t drag it on forever, but we can watch it as often as it takes to make our own. Thanks!!

Thank you for demonstrating how to do the TAW. I'm working on a TAW using men's shirts (a request from a friend to use her father's shirts - 19 of them). The strip method wasn't used so I had to sew hundreds of 2.5" squares together but I did create strips using your advise on making "friends" with the colors, then I used your method shown on your baby size TAW (thank you for that). The top turned out beautiful. I'm also attempting to do a quilt-as-you-go method using quadrants or maybe 1/2. To make it even more interesting, the backing is made of 5" squares of the shirt material. I may be doing a lot of un-picking, who knows, but I love the challenge.

Wonderful tutorial. Must try it.
Hi there, I started to learn patchworking when i fell in love with the Around the world and also the log cabin patterns. Both i have yet to make, but i have just my 3rd top to get quilted before i can make my dream ones. This one was a beauty with the pink against the black/brown, as it showed each off to it's best advantage. Thank you for sharing both how you garnered the colours and how you kept changing them around until you got it running in the right sequence for you. Crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil, Scotland

Asking for two favorite colors really was a fun way to choose!
My first official quilt was a twin version of this pattern for our 8 year old son. Still holding up after almost 4 decades. Didn’t use nearly as efficient a method as yours to put it all together! I had a local quilt shop tie and bind it.

@@merrymabelmarketI finished my quilt top yesterday and placed it on my queen bed. It's going to beautiful on my parents king size bed. It was laying in the floor on both sides of my bed so I'm going to have to adjust the pattern just enough to make it smaller to work for my bed. Thank you again for the pattern and tutorial! This is truly a beautiful quilt.

This quilt is beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing your method for doing this classic pattern. I would like to know many strip sets would I need if I wanted to make regular full size bed quilt?
@merrymabelmarket
5 ай бұрын
i would get grid paper and draw it out the size you want. You can use less colors if you need to. For this sized strip, every square equals 3 inches. Best wishes.
Very very pretty 🎉I’ve never made one looks fairly easy 🤔I would have to start w smaller one to start with. Twin/ full how many fabrics for that size ??

9 different fabrics, 1.5 yards each. How many to do a king? I’m guessing 15. 🤷♀️
@merrymabelmarket

I've done king quilts with the same 8-10 ish fabrics. You can make the squares bigger.... or you can fmake the squares smaller and have more rounds. Get graph paper and draw out what you want. Or just add borders. We do have a queen pattern for sale at our website, if you think that would help you when designing your own pattern.
How many colors to use for a king size quilt
@merrymabelmarket

Usually TATW quilts have 7-10 colors. But as usual...I vote to break any rules you ever want to. You can make a queen sized and add borders if you want. Or...just make your quilt bigger.

I don’t understand why you laid those four strips down First could you explain please
@merrymabelmarket
Ай бұрын
That is the center and becomes your "guide" strip so you can build the rest of the quilt. OR - maybe you mean the strips that I laid down because they didn't need sewn into a circle to be ripped apart in the same place........because the blocks were already in the right place for the positions I put them in.

@@merrymabelmarket yes I meant the ones you did not sew in the loop. I think I understand as soon as I finish this quilt I’m working on I wanna make this one it is so pretty. I’m very new to quilting, I can’t read a pattern yet , “sew “😁I watch a video over and over .
Very confusing.I guess because you are talking so fast and the sewing is so fast also.

@@merrymabelmarket I have a question. Instead of cutting each strip and sewing them into loops why can't you see the whole strip set into a tube then cut the strips?

I slow down the speed. On my screen in the top right there is a wheel icon. Tap on the wheel and you can pick 75% or 50%. I love this woman but I have to slow the speed down. Good luck. Try it.
