Wow you have saved me hours and lots of frustration with Affinity Photos! I used this app for 2 things and now I'm going to use it for a whole lot more projects because I avoided diving in deep and learning about layers and other amazing feature.

Hi Andrew, I was actually watching your AP1 video on this exact process, and it was great how I could play with my pics and add another "layer" on top of it. So many ways to add a photo, which I think is a great option. Thanks again for this video on AP2!

The tap and drag is not working for me. The apps seem to layer up behind each other. Please help :)

I like your technique of accessing Files or Photos via Slide Over. The only problem I've had is that I sometimes trigger the Slide Over app accidentally. And sliding the Slide Over back out of the way takes some practice. It actually works best (for me) by swiping just above the Slide Over window. Because of the fiddliness of it, I always end up closing the Slide Over window after using. That said, having just discovered the "Place" menu, thanks to you, this is way better. I mainly use Affinity Photo for editing photos freshly taken from my camera or phone and not for compositing so I'd never gotten around to thinking about "Hmm, how do I place something?" (I do compositing on my Mac in Illustrator and/or Photoshop.) But with this mini overhaul of the user interface, I can see myself using Affinity Photo 2 more for "real" work. The previous interface was onerous, to say the least. I'm so glad they hadn't baked in the 1.0 interface and made it sacrosanct. They've definitely improved it...enough so that the upgrade cost is a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned, at least for the iPad version. The pre-2.0 version of Affinity Photo on the Mac was much more approachable. Still...I might upgrade on that side as well eventually. Thanks for taking the time to make these helpful videos.

Thanks so much for this comment Brad and apologies for only replying to you now (I should really keep on top of comments better! lol) Glad the 'place' way works well for you, I'm very much used to the slide over way now but it's great that there's different options and yes I completely agree with you about the interface of V2 vs V1. V2 makes so much more sense and its much more user-friendly. Many thanks again :)

Andrew, a question about importing photos - if I import a photo from the ‘Open: import photos’ option in Affinity, it will import the unedited version of the photo. However, if I I drag a photo from the Photos app into Affinity the photo is the edited version. Doesn’t make sense.

Good question Darren... I haven't come across this myself but my guess is that this is because of the way iPadOS works... I could be well wrong but that would be my guess as dragging it in keeps the edits. Again I could be wrong. I take it the edits you made were in the Photos App? :)
