Making a Montana Agate Pendant w/ Lapidary Equipment | Cabbing
Ғылым және технология
Join along as we break out the dremel and Cabber 6 to create our first ever pendant from a Montana agate! Thanks for 406 findings for this stone! We use our lapidary equipment to turn this rough rock into a beautiful piece of jewelry. The dremel is used to drill a hole for the leather and the cabbing machine is used to create the cabbed pendant. If you want to see my different lapidary equipment, please see my links below. heres a good morning coffee shop time TIP!!! use a sponge under your rock that your drilling so you dont punch through the rock and bottom of the tub like i did,,,that turned out beautiful, thank you for sharing
For your first cab pendant, you did a really good job. The hole was really good and beveling the hole is a nice touch. Adding a clasp to the leather was a nice idea. Glad to see you enjoying your lapidary machine. Keep having fun. Be happy, safe and stay healthy and warm.
You and Rob are killing it with your new machines. Great work on that beautiful stone! You did right by it!
So sweet! I love the look of the simple cord through a hole. It has a more natural, earthy look that’s appropriate for rock. This was very satisfying to watch!
That's beautiful. Hard to believe it's your first one.

Thanks 😊
Being from Montana and bias towards our beautiful agates, you did an excellent job polishing that MT agate.👏👍 It looks amazing! The reflection is like glass. I love the black leather, it really draws out the dendrites and makes them pop! Very awesome job, especially for your first cabochon necklace. Thank you for sharing!✌🤠
It's beautiful, Taylor. You've come a long way. 💖🦅🦅
Very nice! You'll have a booth set up in the craft tent in no time!
Beautiful work! The shape turned out perfect. The pits just add to it showing that it is an authentic piece and not glass/plastic.
That was very well done for your first necklace! ⭐

@@AgateDad you're welcome! 🤠
That's hilarious what your wife said about the sound😂🤣 most times I turn the sound down and watch captions. 🙌 😆
Pretty basic, pretty easy, pretty pretty! Fantastic job!
Beautiful job Taylor!!! I really hope you adventure more into this aspect as you have the creativeness for it. I had to laugh at your wife's text as my husband said the same thing from the other room while I was watching the video 🤣 Great job on the piece, now we just need to see your beautiful wife modeling your handiwork ❤
Nice job, lovely pendant.
Beautiful pendant👏👏
Awesome for a first time.
Great job Taylor! Your wife is funny. It sounded like being in the Dentist chair to me.
Great job! It turned out really good!
Coming along nicely sir! I love how your shop is progressing along with your skills.

Excellent job!!!
Looks great ! Sunday the 22nd found 19 Montana agates and 10 to 15 chunks of petrified wood on the banks of the Yellowstone river !! Keep up the great videos
Beautiful! I would love to own this. Agate, favourite stone.
Thanks Im on the look out for new projects to do in the winter.
Gorgeous piece - enough said!
@Agate Dad if you have problems with your findings coming off, you might want to use some glue with it. I use glue on all my clasps like that. Just a little extra insurance. Good job. It’s beautiful 🥰
VERY pretty!
If you have a hard time using the clasp add 1 more jump ring on there. Using a smaller jump ring then a larger one for the clasp to latch on makes it easier to manipulate
It looks wonderful, great job. I still feel that first time thrill of setting my first pair of earrings. Thanks for sharing, hope you and your family are warm and well in this weather.
Thx for the share, that came out great. When I drill a hole I normally have a flat bit of wood in the water with the rock on top. This seems to stop the hole blowing out and going through the bowl. Thx for the video as always and stay safe and rock on. 👍✌🇦🇺
Awesome video, pretty material!
Great job Taylor, this looks amazing. Thanks for showing your process, your setup is awesome, your channel is the best!
Your a natural! Good work!
Very nice work Taylor, I want a Jasper one.

Great job. So pretty.✌&❤
beautiful pendant
What a wonderful pendant that you made that agate into!
you’re done for now Taylor. All your family is gonna want some bling. You may need to buy the wife some hearing protection to reduce the sound of dying cats.😂😂
Very nice, just a tip that may make your pendants easier and hold up better-don’t open the jump rings by spreading apart. It is hard to get the circle back and it doesn’t fully close. Take 2 pliers in each side of the cut on the jump ring and twist so that the ring stays circular and the ring kind of hinges open. Then it will stay round and close properly by twisting it back, most jump rings will click audibly in place. I would hate for you to lose that first cab because the jump ring didn’t hold. Love your channel, and love your work and enthusiasm!
Good job you are coming along fine nice video
This was fun! Thanks!

Nice!!
Wow that came out beautifully my friend! I need one of these machines!!
I have a piece almost identical but much smaller!
Always enjoy your videos, great job, and after showing your video to my wife, I'm now charged with making one for her😳🥴 lol wish me luck 🤞
Hi 👋 👋 👋 👋 Brandon hay I think you did a very good job on your pending 👍 you polished that up so good I really couldn't see the Fractures unless you looked really hard. Also if your going to give that to your wife I think a gold chain would be cool 😎. So keep up the great work and I'll see ya out there again. Thanks Ray in Idaho
Big improvement on a pretty rough looking agate Taylor. Gee thanks Dad.
The pendant turned out really nice. I don't think the "fracture imperfections" take anything away from the beauty of the stone. I tried to send you an email yesterday about a limestone nodule and I wonder if you received it.
Looks awesome 👍👍👍 ( the Dremel reminds me of my dentist visit earlier this month 😥🤣)
Sweet
That turned out absolutely beautiful. You did an awesome job on that. Is making jewelry something you will be doing more of? Thanks for sharing.
Nice video!! Thank you for sharing, full support from us to you!! Please take care!!

Very nice 😍😍. You make it look so easy 🙂
A small piece of wood so you won't go through the water tub. As I probably would. Lol. Smart to bevel the edge of the hole. You do good work.
That is beautiful 😍❤

Love it! Do you have a link to where you got the drill bits?
@AgateDad

There on my Amazon storefront, should be in my description
I enjoyed this, and great job! But can I ask because I have no clue, why the respirator is necessary if anything your drilling is completely submerged? Is the water not absorbing the particulates, or are you just being extra safe?
@AgateDad
2 жыл бұрын
Extra safe, it still sprays on me and the surrounding surfaces and I don’t really feel like inhaling that stuff is a good plan long term. I’ve noticed people mention I should wear a respirator when I don’t and ask why when I do. I’ve done my research and am happy to wear one for my safety 🙂👍

Do you use special bits to drill your stones
Sounds like a dentist drill

Hopefully it did not smell like a dying cat! I know sometimes stones can be stinky, looks good though great job.
Awesome video! I think it turned out beautiful. I need more tools!!! LOL it’ll happen… I need a good space too! I’m running short on that. 😅 I’ll figure something out… I have to! There’s so much agate in my area. Dump truck loads! Seriously! I gotta get on it!!!
