Making a Montana Agate Pendant w/ Lapidary Equipment | Cabbing

Ғылым және технология

Join along as we break out the dremel and Cabber 6 to create our first ever pendant from a Montana agate! Thanks for 406 findings for this stone! We use our lapidary equipment to turn this rough rock into a beautiful piece of jewelry. The dremel is used to drill a hole for the leather and the cabbing machine is used to create the cabbed pendant. If you want to see my different lapidary equipment, please see my links below. For your first cab pendant, you did a really good job. The hole was really good and beveling the hole is a nice touch. Adding a clasp to the leather was a nice idea. Glad to see you enjoying your lapidary machine. Keep having fun. Be happy, safe and stay healthy and warm.

    So sweet! I love the look of the simple cord through a hole. It has a more natural, earthy look that’s appropriate for rock. This was very satisfying to watch!

    Being from Montana and bias towards our beautiful agates, you did an excellent job polishing that MT agate.👏👍 It looks amazing! The reflection is like glass. I love the black leather, it really draws out the dendrites and makes them pop! Very awesome job, especially for your first cabochon necklace. Thank you for sharing!✌🤠

    If you have a hard time using the clasp add 1 more jump ring on there. Using a smaller jump ring then a larger one for the clasp to latch on makes it easier to manipulate

    Thx for the share, that came out great. When I drill a hole I normally have a flat bit of wood in the water with the rock on top. This seems to stop the hole blowing out and going through the bowl. Thx for the video as always and stay safe and rock on. 👍✌🇦🇺

    Very nice, just a tip that may make your pendants easier and hold up better-don’t open the jump rings by spreading apart. It is hard to get the circle back and it doesn’t fully close. Take 2 pliers in each side of the cut on the jump ring and twist so that the ring stays circular and the ring kind of hinges open. Then it will stay round and close properly by twisting it back, most jump rings will click audibly in place. I would hate for you to lose that first cab because the jump ring didn’t hold. Love your channel, and love your work and enthusiasm!

    I enjoyed this, and great job! But can I ask because I have no clue, why the respirator is necessary if anything your drilling is completely submerged? Is the water not absorbing the particulates, or are you just being extra safe?

  • @AgateDad

    @AgateDad

    2 жыл бұрын

    Extra safe, it still sprays on me and the surrounding surfaces and I don’t really feel like inhaling that stuff is a good plan long term. I’ve noticed people mention I should wear a respirator when I don’t and ask why when I do. I’ve done my research and am happy to wear one for my safety 🙂👍
