Making a model of a Morris Marina van from 3d printed parts

In this video, I start a project to recreate my very first vehicle - a 1980 Morris Marina van. I owned this van in my second year at University in Liverpool. The video shows the method I used to create some 3d printed parts which are then assembled into a small prototype.

It looks similar but I think the one in Mad Max was a different make.

Thanks for the comment. Those cars are not on my To Do list at the moment but I may have a go at the SkyDiver from UFO.

I commend you on your dedication and thoroughness for detail, but my god ! you must go through a hell of a lot of wasted plastic to get to the final product !? it must cost a fortune in test pieces, wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy styrene rods, make a frame and then cover it in thin styrene sheets ? I remember doing just that as a kid in the early 80's to make an Opel Kadett C coupe (vauxhall chevette I think it's called in the UK) because there were no kits of this car available. Just a thought.

Good thought, although 3d printing is surprisingly cheap. It only costs about 14 GBP for 1Kg of filament and a lot of the thickness of the pieces is actually air. There are other advantages too such as the ability to easily tinker with a prototype to get it right. You can also scale the model to whatever size you want, easily make multiple copies, and the PLA filament that is used is actually biodegradable, unlike normal plastic.
