    This is what quality leather work is supposed to look like. Every step on this process was done, in my opinion, properly and with care.

    Except for the use of the stitching iron, I agree. The iron is simply for marking, a chisel on the other hand is the way that the uploader used it. ;)

    The Modifier - I hear that. I think on 3 ounce leather - which that looked like - it would have been tough to stop short of going through.

    This is so incredible. Would you be willing to do a commissioned box with special dimensions specifically for another deck of cards? The cards I had in mind were a little thinner and taller so I'm not sure if its possible. (It would be for a dear friend of mine, and this deck is very special to her.) I'm going through your etsy shop and seriously, your craftsmanship is just so above and beyond!!

    very well done but maybe stain the inside of the flap as you can see bare leather when its done up

  • @michaels728
    @michaels7287 жыл бұрын

    Id like to see you try and get your tarot or playing cards out of that now. It all looks nice and all but you didnt think more into it, you shouldve either cut a half circle on both sides where you sewed your gussets on or a semi circle on the front flap so you have a way to get your fingers into the pouch and easily pull out your deck of cards. So either put your half circles on both sides or just the one on the front flap to be able to hold onto them some how to pull them out of the case. Or better yet if the block you used to make the pouch and mold your leather to is the exact same size as your cards its going to be a very tight fit for your cards especially when you start adding your hardware like your rivets and I hope you didnt use open split rivets for if you did and the flared openings are on the inside of your pouch they will dig into or cut your cards up. When adding hardware to something like this you need to not only allow enough space to be able to pull them out or put them in easily but without damaging them on the hardware for the rivets over time will rub on whatever you put in it and will cause rubbed bald spots. So you always want to leave yourself a little more room to allow for how tight it will be to put anything into the pouch and a lil more room for the hardware. I always leave about another eighth inch in width etc to allow for the hardware to avoid them from ripping or tearing into the box or the cards.

    You really should talk about what you are doing at each step. Sometimes your hands are in the way, it’s impossible to see what you’re doing. And you didn’t show anything at the beginning about measurements. If I want this to fit something in particular, I’d need to measure and allow something for how tightly or loosely it fits. Sorry, don’t mean to be a downer. Hope you can learn from this.

  • @swlb2

    Late reply here, but if you're looking for the measurements, he sells a pdf of the pattern and measurements on Etsy. Most likely why he does not give measurements here. He has a link to his shop and this exact box in the video description.
