Today I am making a leather tote bag with a YKK Zipper. I am using Weavers Hermann Oak Expedition 1881 leather. It is a 4-5oz, soft leather and is made to be waterproof! I do not work with zippers a lot but I have always wanted to add one as an option to our totes. So here is a go at making that happen. Enjoy some ASMR!

Hi Morrison! Love your amazing content the Asmr stuff is just addictive! How long did it take for you to make this bag
Thanks dude, real interesting. I’m just starting and you made this look real workable.

Absolutely beautiful job!! Congratulations!!! Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
In high school I worked part time for a leathersmith. Your videos bring back a lot of that nostalgia, and I got really strong thumbs and wrists from scrubbing saddle soap into the leather. It seemed like cleaning/restoring saddles was his biggest business. Keep up the great work!
Nice video and love the bag. If you don't mind constructive criticism. I'd really suggest using basking tape to apply zipper tape it is definitely alot more easier to line zippers up imo

Im your fan.. i m from malaysia .. i plan to buying all the tools and start the leathercraft work ..,hopefully i can made it..😅😅😀
I'm a big fan of your craftsmanship mr. Morrison. I do have a question tho: How durable are the glue and the stitching? Is it suppose to be a bag to last for 10+ years with regular use?
@MorrisonMade
Жыл бұрын
For the bag itself? Or the zipper? For the bag, I double stitch and triple stitch the seams and corners, respectively. It will last forever! The zipper itself bears no weight on it or any forces beyond zipping and unzipping the bag. It will last forever!
Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing.
It looks awesome! Appreciate the content

Wish my hands would still allow me to work with leather. Love your craftsmanship.
Me encantó muy bello trabajo felicidades
Hi 👋 love your videos! Slower great sound and easy to see and follow. I have a question 🙋♀️ The zipper on the top is not stitched all the way from end to end. It looks like maybe 1-2 inches off each end. Is there a reason you didn’t stitch it all the way across? Please and thank you for your advice 😊
Hi bro. the video was more then helpful. thank you great content

Good job man hello from turkey
This is a great simple bag. I have a friend wanting a bid similar to this with a zipper. You made it look easy. When you stitched the zipper. How from the end did you stop? Thanks in advance and thanks for the video 😁
You need to drop an asmr version of each video. Raw sound.
Beautiful. Very helpful. What kind of life did you use to cut the bottom notches ? And what type of rotary cutter?
Nice work
I have some scrap leather from my uncles roll , some long thin bits and some smaller bits , I'm gonna do something with them , just dunno what yet

Great bag! I would like to see how to sew a linning to that tote. Thank you.
Too much insightful education and interesting explanations, not enough violently abusing the leather for no reason 😂

I like the zipper. I’m gonna start making a few bags like that. I’ve been making just open tops think it’ll be much better.

Awesome! I would have added a liner so the durability of the leather lasts longer :)
as always, love these longer form videos! nice getting a slower paced version of the process that is actually at least somewhat followable lol

Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
WHat size zipper do you use? also where do you buy your zipper products for purses?
After watching this, I wanted to invest on a rivet punch and some good rivets
I’m curious, what is the machine and dies you use when you press the two metal parts into the belt keeper?
You are an engineer
What are the dimensions on this bag? Really awesome work!
Looks great. God bless

For my suggestion, make a leather phone case
Getting corners together can be made so much easier by simply(and carefully so it doesn't show on finished product) using double sided adhesive tape or contact cement instead or screwing around with clips on slippery leather. Seems like a pain in the rear to use clips

I have no issues with this method! I enjoy it. But thank you!
How thick/heavy can you go before you absolutely have to remove the flat bed and use the cylinder arm ?

@@darrellawrence3770 yea no joke I did that by just watching every KZread video I could. Whether it’s videos like this and just taking note of what’s being used, what’s going on, checking the links, etc. or watching videos that go into more explanation of tools needed, descriptions, etc!

@@MorrisonMade thank you for your input and thank you for your videos, one more question if you will, where did you have your dye/die? made for your stamp? Sorry, ive always been really curious about those, I am a maintenance mechanic and work with mills and lathes, no CNC machines but I've always pondered how those are made.
