I've decided to design and 3D print all the Hobbit Holes for an epic Shire/Hobbiton project as I figured this would not only save me on time, as there will be over 8 Hobbit Homes on the board (final number to be decided), but to also make these available to all of you for your own Hobbit Home/Shire project! We've got the base structure now complete on the boards with all the lighting. This is going to be an EPIC project!!!

the earth and stairs off to the left but i don't want to keep it going left because it will be too much weight. Maybe i can make road curving back to front some and have the road busted up by a sinkhole...idk i may just trash it. I have put a lot of time in it but i have hit a creative road block...lol. I have only been doing this for a year so...there is so much to learn. The biggest and hardest thing for me is the freaking water pouring and it always...always leaks no matter how much clear sealent i put on my dioramas....How can i get a good pour with no leaks and lighting underneath on river floor..and bottom of bodies of water?

My God , my nerves are going crazy just thinking of doing a diorama so massive. At current time i just finished a 1ft x 1.5ft diorama of the walking dead- daryl on his bike....i know its the lego model but the figures have a lot of detail and i am not using the " road & gaurd rails" that came with it..i made a three tier with underground sewer and big sewer pipe stubbing out with green ooze & bubbles, stairs all the way up carved into rock, rails by pipe to right of pipe to beginning stairs. I came out about 10' in rama measurements and a 2 row of 1' blocks to hold in nasty water and an over flow about 2' wide. At street level i made a street light but......i am kinda burned out at the moment...because i still have to figure out how i am going to do the street. I stepped the levels of earr
We're so happy to be collaborating with you on this build. Looking awesome so far. Landscaping is our favorite part, so we're excited to see how that comes together next. Gotta love the personality you bring to your videos, as well. Had to laugh at the cart squeak. Ready for part 2!

@@RealTerrainHobbies I listened to the audiobooks after watching the movies. I rewatched them last summer with my daughter and was surprised to find my memories of it were all imagined, just with the movies graphics. If you guys haven't already watched, go check out the first video in this series where we go into detail on the "Halfling Homes" I've been designing in Zbrush! I made an entire set which are going to be 3D printed for this project, go give it a watch! There is not a single crafting project on the Internet that I am more looking forward to than this. The shire has always held a soft spot in my heart and this extremely impressive build is something I am thoroughly going to enjoy watching come together. Awesome job so far Neil.

Agreed, though I had just finished watching a Whisk(e)y Vault video, and they use the same piece for their Titan of Whiskey donation credits that is used while Neil was wiring up the board, and it spun me out that 2 completely different hobbies could overlap like that. Took me ages to place it too, just such different places to hear it.
the video editing quality is on point! I love seeing this channel come on leaps and bounds. love it love it love it.

Well Neil, I simply cannot fathom the time and effort to accomplish this build. The construction and editing seems a Herculean task each in its own right! Phew!~ I doff my hat to you sir! FYI, If you want to get rid of the pitting left over from the plaster cloth just wet your hands and run it over the plaster cloth, before the cloth dries, till the plaster that's impregnated in the cloth fills the little gaps. Also a little background on that stuff that's what plaster casts were made from before they came out with the heat activated polymer casts they use know. I used to use that stuff back in the late 90's and early 2k's for making casts of body parts, rocks, branches and the likes for 3D Design class in Highschool.
Again a really amazing video, always love watching. I also really like the seemingly new editing style !

You could drill holes in the bottom of the hard board and fill sections with insulation foam or wood glue to help the sheet on top retain rigidity.
You are a real master in building big landscapes 💜

I think I felt that beginning way too much haha, complicated projects are always so appealing and then you start working on them and there you are months later. Though your projects are on another level, absolutely huge endeavors! This is such a cool project, love seeing it slowly develop- the movable modular aspect of it is super awesome. The 3D models look great, can't wait to see how it all comes together! Also, the light hub box is super satisfyingly organized, hope it worked out well for you~

OK, well dang. I'm just going through my backlog of comments and missed this along with a bunch of other creators. Sorry Devon! But yeah, really love how this came together and having the lighting so easily organized was an absolute dream. Albiet, expensive if I were to pay for it all on my own. That system adds up quickly! But is such a nice way of doing things. I need to hop over to your channel here, I'm so behind on my friends content. Hope you are well :)

Loved the video! It's going to be an epic build. Shaper sheet is a great product and I remember being inspired by the vertical terrain on WS's display stand. I also love using it with water as I know resin is not going to leak through that foil! One question, why did you decide to use plaster cloth over the shaper sheet special plaster? I've always just used the plaster.
