I would like to have a bowl like this in an unfinished natural cherry wood. Or maybe just finished on the outside to protect it and for looks. But no finish on the inside.

Да нет , вы не правы , здесь дураков нет ! И на станке тоже работают виртуозы ! Просто эту работу показали не до конца , там тоже шлифовка была станочная .

Я не в прямом смысле сказала. Только то,что станки на много облегчают работу. Вручную,это труднее и нужно терпение. Этим меня и восхищают люди

My dad made bowls and spoons 50 years ago. He made a big salad bowl with 4 small bowls out of the same branch. I love your videos.

Lovely work there. I've carved many many bowls of that similar style, all with hand tools , non as big as that one though. At least a few thousand spoons too. Bowl wise, I've found most personal catharsis from carving small bowl, especially tiny little ones as the process is much quicker and the amount of material to remove is hardly any, ( Iam downed with a permo jiggered back too, so no swinging axes or bending of any sorts),. Anyway, I was just gonna say,, that's a massseeeev bowl. The amount of material to remove and time and effort involved seems to go up by a magnitude for every 5cm bigger that a carved bowl aims to be. I've just subscribed so I'll be checking out your swag. Nice 1 mate.

These large ones are generally 12-18 hours! I only use hand tools, however.

Hi Tanner, for green woodworking like I do I would suggest to start by carving spoons. For this you will need a carving knife, axe and hook knife. Mora makes some good tools to start with!
