Nurseries often sell bare root trees for hedging in multiples of 5. I bought 10 hornbeams in Jan n they’re beginning to think it’s Spring! So hurry up! God bless you 🙏✝️

you could try a forest nursery. Not sure where you live, but where I am two years ago I bought 25 european larches for about 25 euros. Each larch was only 2--3 years old and around 60-80 cm tall though, but they are doing great now in two little forests I planted with them. The more I would have bought the cheaper they would have been. Forest nurseries usually ship bare rooted trees only between october and april (at least the nursery I use does). And forest nurseries mostly keep trees native to your region.

You may not see this as its an old vid but you have inspired me to get started with bonsai. The last part of this video reminded me of piecing together a Chinese puzzle ring. Keep exploring orientation and alignment and eventually the fit will find itself. I'm going for a walk in the woods tomorrow to find some willing companions on this new journey. Thankyou x

Can you please tell me or point me to a video/resource about how to grow the moss on the top of the soil at the base of trees? I have three bonsai and they are all bare dirt at the bases.

One of my constant disappointments in my trees is I tend to keep making informal uprights, but absolutely am amazed and entranced with far less traditional styles like windswept and off balance styles. Like the gorgeous artwork I've seen from Japan and China. I just don't have the artistic imagination to envision such styles when I'm working with my trees. I would love to see more off balance or windswept style.
