There is more to OTG than a simple 1 to 1 adapter cable! It is about the peripheral device being able to take control, not just being a slave.

Shrink tubing with glue inside is a good way to make the OTG plug durable. Thanks for your video

Before using shrink tubing better first apply some 2 component epoxy glue between the solder points to assure proper isolation between the wires. To prevent short circuits after crimping, since shrink tubing applies mechanical force to the wiring.

Hey Jan, I saw a video where the white is positive and the Green is negative, but yours was totally opposite. Wonder if that matters if they're switch like that. I see that yours worked great, but the other video I saw was just a drawing of the color codes and what not. Thanks for sharing my friend... All I do is build and fly drones...Subbed ya🖐️😎👍 Cheers!

Habe mir ein Kabel mit ID Pin gekauft. Also Micro USB Stecker auf 5 offene Kabel.

Could you make a powered OTG-USB-hub that not only would charge your tablet/cellphone but also power the OTG device? I have a RTL-SDR dongle witch uses quite some power from the battery.

Jan Beta + to +, - to - But the real problem is, does your tablet/phone allow otg charge ? Samsung usually requires some precise resistor value rzther than a direct connction to the ground. On somme smartphones is simply impossible. On a Nvidia Shield k1 it works perfectly : otg adapter-y cable-hub and kbd, mice, usb memory stick and a 2.5 inch hdd.

That's basically impossible. You could build a similar cable (which isn't as easy because there's a little signed chip in every cable iOS accepts) but it wouldn't have near the same functionality. The only thing that can be transferred via OTG on iOS is pictures and video from camera roll afaik. Nothing else.

@@JanBeta Now iOS devices won't even accept LICENSED third party cables and adapters anymore. They want you to pay them THIRTY DOLLARS for a 3" piece of cable with a couple of connectors, that has a bad reputation for quickly falling apart.

Also insgesamt ein eher sinnloses Unterfangen. :/

@@cyberedwing I agree! You're definitely not a brainer, whatever that means.. I suspect you're trying to say, you have no brains, which is quite obvious from your statement that you'd rather buy the cable. Which is what most girls, girlie men, senior citizens and lil kids would do, cuz either this intimidates them or its way over their head. Either way, it's hardly rocket science, you're cutting some wires and then reattaching them, ensuring the connection is solid/strong by soldering it. Not much different then cutting up paper and gluing them together. But the thing with DYI projects like this, the end result, seeing it works and that feeling of accomplishment is something money can't buy. If it stops working or breaks later on, it's easily fixed, since we know exactly how it's put together. If something goes wrong with yours, you'll have to buy another or wait for it to ship, ours would up and running again in 7 mins or heck, could just make another in 10 mins. I meant to ask, why are you watching/commenting on DYI vids, for things you intend to buy anyway? Hardly makes sense, most who watch this, would see how easy its done and proceed to make one. Unless you watch DYI vids on everything you plan on buying, which is some weirdo shyt, maybe get a life instead.. The likelier scenario was that after watching it, you found the process to be beyond your means/skill set or perhaps worried you might chip one of your pwetty lil nails and that'd piss off your boyfriend as he just paid for them after all those weeks of you whining about how your sisters dude spoils her rotten, getting her hair did, nails did, waxed smoother than baby's ass. No comment on that. Enjoy ur store bought cable
