    When u were making the frame why did u cut the wood upright instead of laying it down?? Now I know what to do with my branches I’ve been hanging onto. Thanks for the video u make it easy with instructions and the calming voice. 👍👍👍

    Cool project! I saw the "metal" rings and thought, "who wants to ruin a knife on that thing?" Ha ha. So I watched and, boy, what a clever idea! Very attractive design. Looking forward to watching you make the knife. You just earned a new subscriber :)

    Hey Josh. This is the second video I watched, first was your video made in 2020 about gifts. Really nice ideas I've been learned in your vídeos. And now you have dust collector, what a relief kkk. Impressive work, and the fusion between 3D and woodwoorking is so great man. I already subscribed in your channel. I'm from Brazil! xD

    OhMyGosh!! Excellent work! I’m in LOVE with this cutting board! Like, seriously in love and want it in my kitchen! But I only need/want the cutting board and frame. I do a ton of baking and I only have those cheap cutting boards from Walmart. I need one that will allow me to roll out dough, maybe a 2’ x 2’, or a minimum of 1.5’ x 2’ . . . Originally, I got on to find a tutorial to do my own. But your skill and imagination beats anything I would be able to do myself!!

    On the PLA, or any plastic, the idea of 'food safe' is that it can come into contact with food and not make you sick. So a container or scooping utensil would be fine. However, a cutting board gets sliced and chopped on by sharp knife blades. While PLA is 'food safe', it is not 'food grade', meaning a substance that is safe to ingest. Wood is food grade, and so is mineral oil. But if a sharp blade carves off tiny fragments of the plastic, and those are ingested, that's not good for you and could make you sick.

    People make epoxy cutting boards all the time and solid plastic cutting boards are sold every where. I dont disagree with you, soild wood cutting boards may be more edible but I think I will survive.

    @@JoshWrightWoodworking I agree with you. Polylactic Acid filament for 3D printing is made of biodegradable food products like corn starch, sugar cane and/or sugar beets. It may not taste great but ingesting a small amount isn't likely to make you sick.

    First thing, what happened to your finger man? Second is just a comment/question on the plywood base. You might have a problem when cutting wet food or fruits that have juices. Wouldn't it seep through the sides and get absorbed by the plywood? It's still a cool project and I just love how you build intricate things with limited tools!

  • @JoshWrightWoodworking

    I missed and hit my finger with a hammer 😬 You could be right about juices seeping into the ply wood but the cutting board fits so tight into the frame that I think it is unlikely.

    @@JoshWrightWoodworking Happened to me too, but hit my knuckle instead. Hurt for a week! Well you can't underestimate water, unless there sealant, I wouldn't cut anything in it that is too juicy or wash it directly in running water.

    Do you use a design software to plan things? If so, which one might that be. I really need one where I can print the designs and glue them on my pieces. Thank you!! You're work is truly amazing. God bless

    Thank you! I used to use autocad which I liked but my trial ended and it was too expensive. There are some great free 2d cad softwares like librecad that is worth trying out. I use another free cad software called tinkercad. Tinkercad is meant for 3d printing but I use it to make 2d template as well because it is the cad software that makes the most sense to me and is somewhat easy to learn.

    Looks great! Question - does the spray poly gum up the hinges? Or did you do something to keep that from happening?

  • @JoshWrightWoodworking

    @JoshWrightWoodworking

    2 жыл бұрын

    Not really. I'm sure if I put enough layers of poly the hinges would gum up but just a quick spray seems to be fine. The plastic hinges seem to soak in the poly rather that just sit on top like with a metal hinge so it doesn't gum up as easily.

    All wood finishes are food safe after they have cured. NB: this may take some time but in the end its all safe. It's just not all safe to eat in It's liquid form. This is not my opinion just fact and tested. PS love the board
