Desk Sit Stand Legs - amzn.to/32EsNAa
It is complete! It's been one of those projects that has sat there waiting to happen but finally I can sit and work at my own desk. The timber was an old elm slab and the whole process of flattening can be seen in a separate video.
Router Bit I used - amzn.to/2uNT9Di
OSMO PolyX Oil - amzn.to/2I7BDwN
Foam Brushes - amzn.to/39nsX1a
Makita Belt Sander - amzn.to/385LQo4
Evolution Tracks - amzn.to/2Pxajfy
Flexispot Sit Stand Legs - amzn.to/32EsNAa
Several Options of legs, I bought the heavy duty ones while on offer.

Gread job cleaning up the live edge, I know how easy it is with a wire wheel but also know how they jump around and suddenly jump towards your hand. I used the right angle handle on my drill and taped the hoover nozzle to it so you can have better control of the drill and easy dust collection.

Lovely piece of wood, I would have used a low angle Jack plane to flatten it, glad to see you using my favourite finish OSMO and the same method, I then use a 0000 scouring pad to wipe of the excess I then add another coat and finish with a coat of Beeswax applied with 0000 wire wool and then buff it with a good old fashioned duster. Got to say I now have desk envy as mine is an IKEA desk. Love your screen could do with that for my role as an Assessor as I have to look at so many documents in an ePortfolio. I am a Sparky who's hobby is woodworking. Great Video, I am wondering if that slab would actually fit in my shed as it's only 10x8 in imperial

Beautiful desk! Do really like live edge furniture. I do not understand why people stain hardwood, just seems such a waste of the character of the wood. Did think, if people wanted to they could easily adapt your router jig to take a belt sander and use that with a 32 or 40 grit belt to do the flattening part if they don't have a router. And that would also prevent gouging at higher grits (something I've done with belt sanders before). Even if you made the legs you'd still have to by some strong linear actuators and build control circuitry, so I absolutely think you made the right choice in purchasing, plus if anything goes wrong you have 6 years of consumer protection with buying as a package (at least currently whilst EU consumer rights still apply).

Another cracking project done well! Funnily enough, I was looking to make my own desk for my partner to use when working from home. I have been looking at buying a router for ages, but I can't decide which size I need... I will be doing edging mainly, maybe some slots for shelves when I make my bookcase... Do you think a palm router will be up to heavier stuff/controllable enough? Would a big one be a bit too unwieldy and, again, hard to control on the smaller stuff? TIA! Karl

Feedback/Advice - You sand like a drunk guy stumbling home. There is a technique to sanding. Work out a pattern with the grain that you will follow repeat over and over again. If a particular spot needs to be done, you'll need to do the whole lot until that spot comes down to being good. Potentially think about sanding like you would paint with multiple 'coats'. If things are taking too long, you'll need a more coarse gain. With a slab like this, I would suggest you find someone with a drum sander to do the bulk of the flattening and imperfections with a 40 or 60 grit. Most cabinet makers are happy for you to do this for you for a fee. Hope it helps you next time you sand.
