    Thank you Jen. I didn't think I'd want all the fringe and trim on the curtains, but it just evolved and now I like it. 😉

    Hi Josje, Very nice choice on the thread for the fringe. The colours certainly reflect the variations in the room. I had not seen a fringe made in that way. So many new things to learn in this wonderful hobby. Thank you for showing us in this video. Regards Janine

    You're welcome Janine! It's just something I came up with out of necessity as I wanted to use the thread from the silk fabric. It's quick and easy. In today's case, a bit of laziness is involved as well as I do know how to weave a fringe. That just takes a lot more time. A lot more time. 😃

    Thank you Josje for the sharing your fringe making technique, it goes to show that there are many ways of achieving a particular effect. The silk curtain drapes so well and looks richly sumptuous! The book you mentioned by Christine Lea Frisoni also has a section on making drapes. I have spent 11 months during Covid lock- down making that particular dollhouse and learnt so much about French interiors and building dollhouses in general so can highly recommend it.

    You are very welcome! It's a cheat's way of making a fringe, quick and easy. I do know how to weave a fringe, but it takes a lot of time... I will have to dig out the book, I never really read it, I just looked at the nice pictures. So you made that wonderful dollhouse! What a great project that must have been! Thank you Coby 😃

    Hi from Alberta Canada. I have a dollhouse building book that I built my house from called THE COMPLETE DOLLHOUSE BUILDING BOOK By Kathryn Falk and Edleycoe Griek. Plans and photos by Doug Fornuff. Older book but very informative Wow that is beautiful. Never thought to do fringe like that. Thank you.

    For Anastasia: I have Michal Morse's book 'Build A Doll's House". She is English and has other books about dolls' houses also. I have not attempted to build a house, but Morse is well-known and owned the first dolls' house shop in England. Josje, I admire your work so much. The curtains are beautiful, and I think the brighter gold trim is a perfect choice.

    Thank you so much! I'll pass on the title of the book. I looked it up and I found that this book can be 'borrowed' from the online library Internet Archive, along with several other books Michal Morse wrote. I'll have a look at it 😃

    The tiny pinecones look quite convincing 😃 Acorns, that's a tough one. I will ask the viewers, but you may have to sculpt them out of Fimo or something like that.

    Josie, in my opinion you have one of the most beautiful miniature channels on youtube. The curtains will be gorgeous, but I think they should be further out from the window at the top so they don't hang at an angle because of the window ledge at the bottom. I know it might not be noticeable, but I'm thinking of how it would be done in real life. Maybe I'm wrong, though? I certainly don't know about living in such luxury! Lol ❤

  • @MakeMiniatures

    @MakeMiniatures

    Neither do I 😄 But you are absolutely right about the window ledge and where the curtains should hang. I just stuck them to some tape to show the effect. I will try to hang them as far from the window as possible and I may have to construct something ingenious to hang them 😂 That's always my problem because I just make it up as I go along. I never wanted these big curtains at first. 😉 Thank you so much for the compliment! 😃

    Ha Hellie! Because I like the look of it when they are seen from the outside in. They look richer and more finished. And it keeps the cold out. 😂
