Making A Beautiful Tree Swing For Our Wedding!

In this video I took a slab of wood I milled myself and turned it into a tree swing for my wedding day. This Beech slab actually came from a tree that fell on the property where we had the wedding.
Big thanks to Totalboat for supplying me with penetrating epoxy and varnish for this project. With a soft slab like this it makes a big difference in longevity to seal the slab before letting it live outside. The Halcyon clear worked really nicely as a final finish as well, super easy to apply and looked great.
Angela and I are so thankful to all our wonderful vendors who helped us with our wedding. If you are in the NYC/Long Island area and need an event executed, these people are the BEST!!

Congrats! Nice engineering on the swing. Agree about paint cans. Sherwin-Williams patented the paint can in 1877. Odd how such a bad design lasted this long. Total boat is onto something. Mahalo for sharing! : )

A lot of finishes need to be either just slightly set or completely cured to add additional coats for best outcome. ...and that's rope, not string. Just sayin.

Don't get married guys. Don't do it! In 6 years you'll be fighting over who owns that tree swing. You should put some gold inlays in it or something to make the legal bills over the fight for it worth something at least. No doubt you two love each other and committing to each other is fine and dandy, but marriage is not about two people who love each other. Marriage is about letting the state settle arguments between two people who love each other. 55% of American marriages fail. All those people love (d) each other too. If you really love each other and want to show it, form a corporation that you both sit on the board of, sell shares to your guests and invite them to invest in the company rather than buy presents.
