Making a Barenia Leather Watch Strap | Genteel Handmade
Design Yours here: www.genteel-handmade.com
Our goal is to offer our customers the most unique leather watch straps you can find on the market. We create our watch straps entirely by hand, not by machines. Every watch strap is hand-stitched. We believe that a watch strap created entirely by hand is more unique, long-lasting, and full of personality.

Very nice work. I would recommend adding a reinforcement such as Velodon if you want to ensure your straps are more durable. Barenia is quite soft and too prone to stretching.

In wish I could buy a strap with only 3 punched holes. One for the right size, one plus and one minus. No need for 7 or 8 holes.

Thank you very much, it was as instructive as it was entertaining watching a master craftsman working. i hope I don't come across as unappreciative but some narration would have been appreciated since not all of us are familiar with the art of leather work.

Remarkable. I never realized how many steps, and how much fine craftsmanship was involved in making your straps, George. It would be interesting to see captions naming each tool as you use it. Well done!

Definitely some tools and techniques here I've not seen before. Well done. I find the hardest part is that last step - getting the adjustment holes lined up and centered perfectly.

Looks incredible! Do you prefer this clasp centered on the wrist, or more off to the side so the curve in the clasp conforms to the curve in the side of the wrist?

Where did you get the barenia and Zermatt leather in absolute perfect thickness…? I always struggle to split the leather with my manual leather splitter as barenia and Zermatt leathers are so soft…

Hi. I'm just wondering, why are two different leathers always used on watch bands? Why can't the same leather be used in two layers?

  • @Robert-rm1qz

Because the leather is tanned, so people generally use a natural layer that sits on your skin that doesn't give off colour or potentially irritating chemicals.
