Making a 6-String Cigar Box Guitar for an old wooden suitcase

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A few weeks back I bought two old wooden suitcases at a flee market. A while back, I got a package with the post containing a cigar box and a few license plates. It so happened that this cigar box fitted exactly in one of the suitcases... a project was born!
The box was a gift from Steve Richard at:

Not Just Sawdust, Não Só Serradura, because it isn't just that. It's the evidence reflecting the relentless urge to create, the proverbial blood of that beautiful material nature provides us with. It's the sharp teeth that cut, the subdued mind that finds out what a piece of wood harbors in itself.

Hi Gerrit, That cigar box and suitcase were a match made in heaven. Great little guitar and the amp sounds really nice. Take care Gerrit. Cheers, Huw

Thanks Huw, keep safe and sound too! (Next time I'll find a little motor that gets to the 200 rpm instead of 100 for such an amp.)

Thanks Dirk. As we all have to handle these times, with caution, but also with creativity and some fun! (and challenges !!!)

Fantastic Gerrit 😊 A beautiful match for each other. I love the amp too. Going to watch that video soon. I've missed so many great videos with being busy, but I will slowly catch up 😊 Blessings ॐ

The same problem here! I maybe watched 30 percent of the video from channels I have subscribed to. But hey, there's always a chance to get up to date. Thanks for watching and commenting, keep safe, all the best from Portugal!

Only problem is that 3 strings are even to much for me.... let alone 6!

and thanks to my dear wife I was able to line my box and also sit in the cleaned garden :) ! (And for the street musicians among us ... I have a matching hat with it) And .... you can store strings in the jacket pocket.

Terrific stuff all round mate. Really enjoyed that cbg build, the reclaimed neck worked out really well. Loved the choice of music as always. The first bit reminded me of the slide man who played with George Harrison, Bryn Haworth. Up until today I had the idea that he was born in Belfast - this was completely wrong! I dunno' where I got that idea. Cheers Gerrit, love to Mrs Sawdust.

Blimey! It turns out Bryn didn't play for George either. I've been horribly misinformed. And I've been misinforming people for years! Oh well, Bryn Haworth is still a brilliant slide player and seems like a very decent guy.

@@MarkMcCluney And I'm thinking, not the wiser, all the things I learn from the knowledgeable Irishman.. Just take it easy, have an ice cream. (watch out for the brain freeze) Greetings back from Mrs Sawdust (Although she's holding on to her maiden name "Crochet" (*o*). Silly projects on the way Mark! Be alert!
