Im glad PA changed the law and residents can now buy the good stuff. I used to drive to Ohio to get fireworks, then when I met my wife we used her NY id to get stuff locally. Now I don't have to deal with those BS rules. I wish the law would have been changed when I was a kid, the 4th would have been much cooler! Though maybe I wouldn't have learned how to make my own if it wernt for those restrictions. I'm glad I took the time to learn how to make aerial shells, its a good skill to have!

I’ve got a huge smile on my face. This is the kind of stuff I love. The right people doin’ it right.. slowly learning I’ve got ALOT to learn.. started too late at 30 coming from California to Ohio well after the ban in California there was one in Ohio and didn’t find interest in fireworks. Now I can’t get enough. In time…

Dave did wonders for me! Best 20.00 spent! I got my Type 54! Eddie and Tammy from Nite Lites as my contingency which gives me access to Nite Lite and Casa Pyro extensive line of 1.3 and 1.4 fireworks. Dave I think you should follow me on here and see what a Pyro hobbyist has brewing for the 4th. Wasn't for you I wouldn't have known about "Ray Ray" of wfboom. Then learn from you that Eddie was more or less in my back yard! Thank you for what you do! Still mad at Eddie for not letting me know that you was in KY back in May! Smh. Missed you by 4 days.

Did I miss it? I wanted to see you guys buying shells, like per 1/2 dozen or dozen, and maybe some single larger ones, was it all just class 1.3g cakes and NO SHELLS?

Quick question about stabilizing cakes. I don't have a single level street surface in my neighborhood, and the only level place is a grassy lot where I intend to light off 500 gram 9 shot (1.4G). Box says do not light on grass because it can tip over. Would boxing it in with 4 cinder blocks keep it stable without messing anything up? Should hold it stable, but you never know if some fuse might run along the outside which could get damaged . My only current experience is with medium mortars and 200 grams cakes. Mortars I just put in the street with bricks.

When I was visiting family in the U.S. last year for the 4th of July, I boxed them in with bricks / cinder blocks on the concrete. Don't want them rocking. On green grass I used stakes and wrapped them with tape, protect them from moist grass as well. When we used to be able to have nice home displays in Australia that was my method, rare now as we need to be told how to look after ourselves.

tastiger91 I didn't think about the moist grass. Shouldn't be a problem, because it will be lit quick. That sucks about Australia. The whole globe is becoming a nanny state. I get this vibe where I live in Florida that this will be a bad participation year for fireworks. Not one single tent has opened yet. One has the tent up, but no merchandise. Other than that, I have to go to Skyking, Phantom and TNT.

Sometimes it can get a bit of moisture in the air and ground when I use to set them off, made the fuses a little slow to start as well. Sometimes I'd stake them through them light shopping bags, tie them up and undo it before lighting. It worked. As well as nanny state we seem to have to pay for a permit for everything we do nearly, "paperwork" is the new employer.

  • @bensfortin

A 1.3g license is a federal license. So yes! Your state may have additional rules, and regulations after you get your license.

Sorry I may have just zoned out if you mentioned it but how much do the 1.3 normal run price wise for shells and a single cake? My uncle wants to eventually try and get the licensing and permits to get those for show purposes I've followed you for a few years now.
