Such a cute skirt - and love the tutorial - great way to do the waistband. I learned to sew from my mom (and 4-H sewing) and she was good at those details like remembering the opening for the elastic!

My son put 'weed' inbetween parchment paper and used his sister's straightener to make 'shatter' .

How wide is the elastic your using? Which is better a thinner or wider band?

its awesome seeing a younger generation sewing. Can this elder give a few free tips?? Do not pull your fabric from behind the feed dogs, you will burn out the timing on your sewing machine faster. Prewash everything, and iron before you put the fabric away. This will enable you to sew at a whim when looking through your fabric collections. To do a french seam. Sew a 1/4" seam wrong sides to wrong sides. Then trim that seam down by half, Turn to Right sides, And iron the seam very well. Then sew right sides together and press, and you have completed a french seam. It is very strong seam, and will never unravel, and finishes the seams perfectly.

I just put the elastic together and sew it together! Lol I’m sorry I know that’s a very poor explanation. I’ll do a video on how I do it, I’m better at showing than telling😬

If you are still in school or college, ask your math teacher to help you learn to read a ruler. Or if you know somebody who is a carpenter or a woodworker, they can help you, too. Once you get the knack, it's easy.
