I've bent a connecting rod on a saw doing this before. To play it safe, instead of using a cheater bar and slowly torquing it, I just use my ratchet and hit it sharply with a hammer to jolt the clutch loose. It helps eliminate the risk of bending the rods.

Probably not a good thing to do if you value your ratchet. I’d hit a short breaker bar, however. Great tip though! 👍

On the poulan I used a adjustable wrench and vice grips it worked good and will either buy the right tool for that job or will make a tool

I used shoe string and it got shredded up and i had to pick out pieces of string but it worked though

I'd say if you got most of the rope out and left a tiny piece in then it'll be fine unless you're picky perfect and don't wanna chance scratching your metal with a piece of plastic rope which won't because it'll get burned up really fast whatever way

Just use a little impact ranch .

This method can work but it can also damage the clutch so it's the best idea.

Shove it all in and screw the plug halfway back in and then you've got your old part took off

Kinda late, but use a shop vac to get those threads out. You really don't want any debris in the combustion chamber. You can run the risk of scratching your cylinder and wall, that would cause compression loss.

@@Raiarii14 my shoe string broke apart into 3 pieces i picked it all out to avoid taking mine apart cause all that would waste my daylight time i use so i got it all plucked out and it ran good a little shitty though with old gas but done good
