    In 1980, in Millet Alberta Canada, my friends Annie Smith and Amelia Strathdee and myself changed the Lambar from the previous model - nipples installed on the bottom of the bucket, no straws - to a design with the tubing straws you just showed how to make. We published our ‘new’ design in several circulars and after we succeeded in getting the dairy industry to agree to milk testing for goats milk, the Canadian Dairy Commission issued our plan for the bucket feeder to all new applicants. I love YOUR modification of securing a second bucket to a sheet of plywood to stack the feeder in and prevent ‘tip over’. We hung our buckets. When full they hardly moved at all, when empty they swung, letting us know to retrieve and clean them.

    Great information! Thanks! My daughter has been bottle feeding her baby goat by hand but just started a full time job so baby goat needs this👍

    This is awesome!!! After watching this we made one out of a cooler and put the tubes into bottles with ice packs. Our orphan is able to go to it throughout the day and feed whenever he wants. He is just as nice as the babies on nannies. Thank you for this information and the link to the lambar nipples

    Great job! I’m watching that bee in the second bucket like “don’t get stung, don’t get stung”... the pup just wants some goat milk too please lol ❤️🥰

    When I was raising goats I would take a Gallon glass jar and fill it with boiling water. Fill it up in morning put on lid and place in bucket. After milking does put milk in bucket and the hot water in jar helps keep the milk warm till you feed the babies.

    Im so glad you made one of these, my girl Phoebe had 4 teenie little ones and on top of that she isnt doing to well, she stop wanting to nurse, shes lathagic and not wanting to eat nor drink so Im hauling her to the vet first thing in the morning. She had 3 boys and 1 girl, one of them is a dinky boy, I finally got him to start nursing on the bottle, they are gonna be a handful right away. I did post a vid of them mauling me for the bottle this evening. Thanks for making that again Derek and Crystal.

    Just want to say a huge THANK YOU. Ya'll do a great job of making this look easy. I've already ordered (and received) my niples and tubing, and also opted to use check valves on the tubes. We have an awesome bucket too (icing bucket from a local bakery - free). What I've just spent an hour looking for is the nipple spacing! You two rock this! BTW I've watched your videos for YEARS and even learned disbudding from you. So thanks for putting up awesome info!

    We don't have that many kids at one time but it is good to know this one in the event that we do have several kids at once. Love the DIY!!! Have you ever made a video on how to rearrange malpositioned kids? I just went through this in our last kidding Sunday. Luckily there was a breeder nearby that came over to help. She saved not only my doe but her triplets. Just a thought as you are such a wealth of all things goat!!!

No wonder he likes the kid pen. 🤣😂🤣😂 Are those the only kids left you are either retaining, waiting to sell, or are sold (yet almost ready for their new homes? They are almost dwindling down. Goodness it they sell fast. Great video!! :-)

  • @BlueCactusDairyGoats

    @BlueCactusDairyGoats

    Haha! We are lucky her in the desert and not often do we have to worry about the weather. We often have breaks in the rain when it does so we go when we can. If there are no breaks we just milk in the rain and have to discard the milk or feed to an animal. Hoping to have a barn in the net few years though :)
