Now that's a smart reference! I hadn't made the link, but with the caste system and mind-affecting poisons, there's a lot of similarity!

Have a player running one of these in my game. Battle Master Grung, focus on ranged weapons. Players get into a fight with an advanced Ankheg, wherein they not only have to worry about themselves, but NPCs too. The kobold PC has been captured by the terrible scythe-arms, looks set to be snipped in half. Grung PC, adhering to the wall, leaps from it and lands upon the Ankheg, then hops off. Forcing it to make the poison save versus physical contact. Ankheg fails: basically everything is at disadvantage now. Kobold escapes, Ankheg cannot effectively hit the rest of the party. Victory. MurderFroggos are a delight.

Ok so a Grung Artificer would be awesome. Get an Alchemy Jug with one of your infusions to make water for a bath every day (maybe have a cart with a small bathtub, or just carry a barrel or something), plus the Poisoner feat, and you can have a Grung that fights pretty effectively by leaning into its natural poison, and other poisons to boot. Heck, if you wanted to go Battle Smith artificer, you could just say your medium-size steel defender has a bathtub on it's back :P

Well its time to make a drunk Grung cleric as my next character

I have played a purple grung that serves a kraken as their warlock while grappling like a raging barbarian which brought the most unexpected fun (and some evil aspects) that not even DM’s expected

OH MY GOD. This was exactly what I was going for. I'm joining a campaign as a grung ranger and was going to be a swarmkeeper as well.Thank you for a the great example. I will give an update when Timrek the grung starts his journey

Currently playing a grung arcane archer fighter and I’m having a blast. I play a lot of ranger so I was known for being the bow guy, but we had a moment in combat where a giant beast grabbed and attacked me, so I proceeded to remind the DM that I’m a dex fighter and swapped to my rapier to action surge 4 grung poisoned rapier attacks all at advantage because the party Druid swarmed the beast with wolves which made him prone.

It's so true that bringing something different to character creation can really help keep things interesting. These little guys are sick.

I mean, about the seafaring: Saltwater would actually dry freshwater creatures out just like it dries us if we drink it. But maby a big river with trade going up and down would be good?

From a rules point of view, it doesn't differentiate what kind of water during character creation.

Just started playing DnD. My character is a Grung. Tiny Green Frog Wizard be like:

I have been playing a Grung Cleric in a game for around 2 years, with the far traveler background, because she stands out in the normal lands like a curiosity to the common folk. I also leaned into the caste system outcaste as a purple spell caster being shunned by the reds of the tribe. We did lessen the poison effect and the penalty for water dependency for ease of play but its been really fun!

Would actually love to play a Grung now 🐸 So cool!

Ah yes. Grung. The embodiment of taking every opportunity to say, "So you touch me?" That's going to go over well, one way or another. Either you get interpreted as a creep, or it just gets really annoying when it happens for the 47th time when your party has to either get poison immunity, or just avoid touching you, or continue taking damage each time they heal you or you try to heal them. That's gonna get old fast. I'd play them more like the frog folk in Kulipari: An Army of Frogs (I forget the exact name but I *think* that's it, feel free to correct me! I'd prefer to be accurate here but it's been so long since I saw the show on Netflix and I hear there's (a) book(s) the show's based on, but I haven't read them if they truly exist). Also your background music only goes in one ear on headphones.

Grungs are the best! I played a grung who used a blowgun and gave hugs. He talked like Louis Armstrong and pretended to know everyone, calling them by the wrong name.

LoL could you see a grung monk that poisons you with every strike

I'm a new fan of the channel and love your world building content And this channel has become my number 2 go to channel for that type of stuff 2nd to only the mighty glue stick how ever this video was interesting And more pc or npc ideas would be excellent maybe firbolg or tortal. Fixing up boring character tropes would be awesome as well.

So if your a grung and you shape shift into a bear or wolf do you still poison things when they touch you like biting them?

I created grung monk way of the shadow who is ninja (i gave him katana (longsword) and using weapon master and optional rule doing this monk weapon)

A gold grung that never wanted to rule over anything just explore and have nothing or no one tying them down to heavily. Escape from their tribe and goes on the run as they want to explore the world not be confined to a role they do not want merely because their skin color tell them that is what the purpose in life is. Though they do not want to become a ruler, their tribe chases after them as they are the gold grung after all. Thus they must be their leader weather they want to be or not

I cant seem to find them on the D&D beyond character sheet section. Am I missing something or are they missing from the list?

As a dm with a certain grung huuummmmm

I find humanoids pretty boring character design wise so I often go for something a little more colorful which generally leads to being called a furry lol I don't mind, won't stop me from playing my fluffly harengon druid, you can keep your plain looking elves
