Something about a mini I don’t know what but I love them

I just bought a 2008 convertible - I am SO stoked to have it as a weekend car to putt around the neighborhood and down to the beach.....

Definitely fun cars to cruise in!

The best way to do this is to open the resonator box & eliminate the baffle inside & reinstall

In warmer climates you’d best be putting a duct from the front to that side inlet …

I would not do this, as you will be pulling in very hot air from under the hood instead of pulling in cooler outside air. This may result in both a small loss of power and fuel efficiency.

That possibility was mentioned in the video. It feels like there is no difference. I get 43mpg when I do light hypermiling so I’m not bothered.

This is awesome man, my mother has the same gen and spec, was looking for after market intakes and nothing popped up. Would be cool if k&n made a high flow drop-in filter and use this mod. Having a less restrictive filter would definitely gain some power

Alta performance makes a very good cai that I have on my r56 (cooper s 2009)

@@jhowieee4144 the Alta is a hot air intake, it’s main function is just sound. I had one of those a few years ago. The base and S intake are different too, there is like 1 intake out there for a base

Leave the intake, you removed on, as that is how you get good air flow into your engine..Note: It is a cold intake. Remove the filter itself and attach a Performance Filter, or Pod as some may call them. The intake vent and shroud your removed can be adjusted so it routes directly to the inlet port on the Pod.. You will definitely hear the motor suck air. It is noticeable. You will also retain cool air from the intake vent. In addition you can cut of the Muffler and weld a pipe straight on.. The muffler retards noise only.. You would be surprised by the nice little note it utters :) For me, I did note a little more performance mid range, however nothing spectacular... As most would state, if your want something a little more rowdy, go a Cooper S, and if you can afford it a JWC.

I have the base for the daily, but have modded S models for the pep

They make a hose you can put instead of the noise reduction box so that way the engine can still get fresh air, I have it and I’d recommend that

I’ve been meaning to check if the S model fresh air pipe fits. I have some laying around

You need to delete the resonator and put a magnaflow cherry bomb. You’ll like it even more I did that and it sounds very nice not rice either. Leave the original muffler though. Did you notice a sound change normal driving, like normal rpm range under 4 rpm’s?

It was louder below 4k for sure but would wake up mostly anything after 3k. Video didn't do the best justice for how audible the difference was!

Have you noticed any change in performance since you did this mod? I haven't seen an intake silencer delete without replacement piping before.

It doesn’t seem any slower, but it certainly doesn’t seem any faster. I do feel like sometimes I can get to top speed faster but it’s likely just a placebo affect

Your air temperature sensor is located at the front passenger side below the grill. Directly opposite the air intake tube. After a while I would ventrue to say you may pull a code (depending on the tempature variance) As you probably realize, air temperature plays an important part for the computer to determine air /fuel mixture ratios. Because you are circumventing the piped air at a predetirmed temperate , the Mini is expecting cooler air, but intaking warmer air. Curious to know, if after a while you noticed any change in performance , if any MAF codes appeared. I must say, I do like the sound.

No, it won’t hurt the car. It’s all before the engine filter so no harm

All I did to mine was a cat and muffler delete on the exhaust. You won't be disappointed. She even does some pops and bangs when warmed up

Deleting this piece of ducting will result in drawing warm air into the engine with a resultant degradation in performance.

There really was no difference in performance. It doesn’t feel faster, doesn’t feel slower. In the future I’m tempted to do more experiments to actually document if it actually makes a difference

@@zevisgarage Hi, I know that a 5 degree temperature increase will lead to a 4% drop in performance. Cool air carries more oxygen than hot air. Simple schoolboy physics.

@@zevisgarage Hi, you have removed the intake ducting. Without said ducting, the engine will draw in hot air rather that cold air. Hot air holds less oxygen that cold air. Hence a power drop from your "enhancement" Thank you.

@@anthonygreen9157 you say a 4% drop in performance. But you don’t know the potential restriction the intake resonator has. I know the whole theory of colder air being more dense but there isn’t enough evidence to come to any conclusions. It doesn’t feel slower, and it doesn’t feel faster. I never stated it will make more power.

How to make ANY car noisier? Rip the back box off !😮
