we do three must have mods to our 2016 gmc sierra to make sure it last.... first is we put in the range technologies to disable the afm, ( active fuel management ) so we stay in v 8 mode all the time to save the lifters, then we install the k/n air /oil separator to keep the valves and intake from getting slugged up with unburned pvc gases, since the 2014 and newer 5.3 and 6.2 liter engines have gdi ( gas direct port injection ) where the gas gets shot directly into the cylinders and the valves don't get the back wash from gas like the previous 5.3 engines, and last bit probably most important is the shift technologies thermovalve delete so trans fluid can circulate thru the transmission cooler at all times, deleting the thermostat that stops fluid circulation until the trans hits 195 degrees witch gets the trans to hot and burnes up the transmission and tourqe converters , so these are a must have if planing on towing , all three are a definite must have in my opion to make your truck last and perform to its fullest , thanks and our email is h1971elcamino@yahoo.com if anyone would like to get ahold of us.

Great explanation of everything. I did the same things on my 16 silverado along with some basic transmission and converter tuning with hp tuners. It drives so much better and limits the abuse the converter sees with the factory tune, which casues most of the issues.
There's a reason toyotas don't mess with cylinder deactivation it's a good way to ruin an engine. Good mods to do Herb
SMOKED MY CONVERTER IN MY 2016 SILVERADO.I COUGHT It QUICK .THE DEALER FIXED IT. Fluid flush and new converter. 1900 job

I had that on my 17 now I have the 19 I put a pulsar so it defeats the drop of cylinder and auto stop and I can change the. Throttle response has 4 settings was a plug in play

Totally agree, I had one in for over a year and a half, I took it out to do a scan on the obd port, forgot to put it in, in the next couple of days I got a siezed lifter and needed overhaul done.
