‎ Why use buckets for water changes when you can fill directly from a hose? Master breeder Dean teaches us how to make a DIY water change hook that attaches to a 3/4" hose and hangs on the side of your aquarium without slipping off. The PVC ball valve allows you to easily shut off the water flow so you can move the water change hook to the next aquarium.

Another perfectly timed video. After putting the mini pond together, bending the pipe gave me the idea to do this as well. I was gathering a list of parts, but wasn't sure the best way to go about connecting a hose to PVC. The threaded sprinkler riser makes that trivial, excellent idea. Experience works it's magic once again, thanks Dean!

I built something similar a few years ago with just using 90s instead of bending the pipe. I use the feeding hole in my greenhouse aquarium lids to place the hook and fill the tank. Menards has a plastic end for the hose attachment that is fixed like the brass piece you used. I also use a tee splicer for a diverter. It's a great tool to have in the fish room.

I've made something very similar for my water changes, but I didn't heat the pipe. PVC can give off strong(harmful) vapours. I would recommend doing this with a mask on in a well ventilated area but better yet, buy a few extra 90's and make roughly the same shape to hook over the tank. I also made sure to use a hose for potable water, you can find them where they sell RV supplies.
