    I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or whenever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income

    In these turbulent times, understanding how to effectively handle finances, make astute investments, and navigate economic challenges is paramount. Yet, my primary concern lies in augmenting my stagnant reserve of $240k, which has remained dormant for an extended period without any significant gains. While I'm dedicated to a long-term strategy, the persistent threat of inflation depleting my savings and the continuous decline of my portfolio necessitate urgent action and resolution.

    I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. Since a while ago, I've been in touch with a coach, mostly because I lack the depth of understanding and mental toughness to deal with the ongoing market conditions. Isn't VOO and VUG similar in the sense both are investing in the S&P 500? What is the difference? I thought it is generally advised against to invest in multiple ETFs or Mutual Funds?

  • @Patriciacraig599

    @Patriciacraig599

    3 ай бұрын

    There is 55% overlap with the holdings in VOO and VUG. 1 is tech heavy and the other is financials heavy similar, but not the same. VOO tracks the S&P 500; VUG is just focused on large cap growth stocks. VUG is a bit more volatile, but with a higher upside potential. VOO is a bit safer. I’ve never heard anyone advise against multiple ETFs/mutual funds. You just have to be aware of overlap. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

    Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use if it than they can. It’s not much different from bond investing. The way I see it if you have a $1 million at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50k-70k in dividend income...

    It's not difficult, but you have to learn and handle. Another thing is that if you can't manage your home, maybe you shouldn't invest on your own. If so, you should hire a CFP to help you diversify your assets to include ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of companies with consistent cash flows, rather than betting on penny stocks.

    That’s right, I started investing sometime in 2018 and by early 2019, I pulled a profit of over $800k with no prior investing knowledge or skill, I was basically just following the guidelines set by my financial advisor, despite the current market volatility I return at least $75k every month so you don't necessarily need to be a perfect investor or do the hard works, just have a professional to guide you.

    After a nightmarish 2022, shell-shocked investors have losses to recoup and plenty to ponder, as an inflation report and a raft of other data did little to change expectations that the Federal Reserve would likely continue hiking intrest rates even if the economy slows down, Which means more red ink for portfolios for the first quarter of year 2023. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $250k bond/stocck portfolio

    Consistently investing in high quality dividend paying REITs & companies over the long term is a relatively easy strategy to create generational wealth. My "boring" REITs portfolio paid me over $4,000 in dividends last month. Time in market beats market timing. You work for 40yrs to have $1m in your retirement, while some people are putting just $10k in a meme coin for just few months and become multi millionaires. if you don't invest, you're missing out on opportunities to increase your financial worth.

    Despite the fact that I invest, I am saddened by my inability to evaluate each company's performance and determine whether or not this is the ideal time to purchase stocks. My monetary stockpile is being depleted by inflation. At this stage, I need accurate market trajectory data, but I'm not sure what to do.

    I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I opt to entrust the day-to-day decision-making to an investing coach. With their specialized knowledge and extensive research, it is highly unlikely for them to underperform. Their expertise is centered around harnessing the asymmetrical potential of risks while also employing measures to safeguard against unfavorable outcomes. I have been collaborating with an investment coach for more than two years, and as a result, I have generated over a quarter million dollars in returns.

    @@patrickbrussels4454 I have been contemplating pursuing that approach myself. I currently hold a substantial number of stocks, but their value has begun to decline, leaving me uncertain about whether to hold onto them or sell. I believe that engaging the services of your investment coach would assist me in reorganizing my portfolio effectively.

    @@dileazad1334 That depends on a lot of factors. Is this for investment and does it earn income. If yes, then you need to run the numbers and make sure that at the end of each month, you are putting cash in your pocket! (forget about thinking there might be appreciation over time... that is gambling... but cash in your pocket every month is never bad, and then you add tax write-offs , equity build up by tenants, etc...). If this question is for buying a house for you, then you have to decide if the mortgage payment fits easily into your budget. Also helps if you get the house under market pricing so you have instant equity. Hope this helps!!

    We are already in the big crash, Inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the housing market to a halt, the FED will have to pull all the stops. The unfortunate issue is that other markets are being decimated. If you want to stay green, you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 14% and being careful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.

    Hey Richard, I just want to say “Thank You” for being real. So many people are reaching for that magic thing that’s going to make them rich quick so they can be that”Super Star” with the big cars and so on…… Discipline and consistency are the key, not only to finances, but to so much of the important things in life. Raising children, maintaining a great marriage and even living a life of faith in God. Keep up the good messages with your down to earth advice. You are being used by God to direct people in areas that you may not even be aware of. Stay strong and stay humble. Thanks again.
