Oh, my God, you are the goddess! Not only are my white towels, white again. But, I had this purple stain on the bottom of my shower floor and I have been trying for the past year to get it to come out. It was from that purple shampoo that I use for my hair. It’s seriously like a dye. I have tried bleaching and scrubbing and comet and everything. I put this mixture that you suggested on top of the stain and let it sit overnight. Now it is white again I can’t believe it! Thank you so much.

I've tried every non-industrial strength product and the only thing that ever mostly restored my whites was (spot treat first) then boil in a solution of water+peroxide+borax. This has got some very yellow whites about 90% restored to original, which is the best I've ever achieved.

Do you really mean boiling in a pot on the stove? Can I do that with white towels?

@@lienbijs1205 yes, absolutely. The cotton can take very high heat. Obviously you don't want to do this if it has embellishments, but simple Terry or other cotton towels can be boiled.

@@davepane7306that how they did laundry way back when. If you ever see an antique really really big oval shaped copper pot, that's what it was used for, and it wasn't just towels. Basically anything that wasn't fine fabric. There are plenty of tutorials here on how to do it.

Be careful that you don't use too much of the stain remover (Dawn + hydrogen peroxide) or you will get too much foam in a front loader washer.

Love the tip, now will any dishwashing liquid do or do you have to specifically use Dawn?

  • @ursamajor6347

If I may say I highly recommend just buying Dawn because in addition to this, it has so many excellent household uses. Another laundry tip is if you have a grease stain on any color of clothing apply Dawn to the stain and it will knock it right out it saved my son's school uniforms. My husband also uses it to clean the wheels of our car. Get some sparkling clean. Don also gets makeup out of white cotton items. Nothing else worked not even peroxide.

Thank you so much for the tip. As a default, dawn is the that the only dishwashing liquid that I use, but I had another brand that is commercial grade, I just curious if that would work as well. Thanks again, keep up the great work! @@ursamajor6347
