Thanks again for this great explanation how to use masks and possibilities of LR Christian 😀 Personally I think the warm colors in the sky are not reflecting in the water which naturally will happen. So for me the water is to cold…

I have a similar type of image from last year that I will be trying these masks on. Or, I could go out this evening and start from scratch. But thanks again for this tutorial, top notch.

Christian, Today’s targeted adjustment in terms of masking is very vital. The sky, the mountains, the rocks and the tides, all turned into a complete glowing and more beautiful. I am grateful for your brilliant inspiration to me. I would like to ask you one thing, If I try to take a capture of the tides or the sea for a foggy and silky look, I am wondering if the exposure time cloud be set on 30 seconds or any other time option. I am thankful.

Thank you very much for the kind comment! You can set the exposure to 30 seconds for a VERY, VERY smooth look. It can look great in certain cases, but I personally prefer going with shorter shutter speeds (when there are waves like in this image) around 1/4 up to 0.6 seconds so that there is still a little detail in them :-)

Very good but the sea near the horizon would reflect the sunset so should be a little warmer and the foreground is unnaturally bright given the time of day.

Very very cool tutorual Chris! In the beginning I thought that it would be set of 5 images (merged into HDR) because of pretty bright highlights and deep shadows, but it really surprises me. What focal lenght did you use to get this shot, 16mm (your ef 16-35mm f/4)?
