Make the "Brightly" Quilt with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star (Video Tutorial)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Jenny Doan demonstrates how to make a stunning star quilt using 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cake). For this project, Jenny chose Magic Colors 10 Karat Gems by Wilmington Essentials.
This quilt was designed by Allison Harris for Cluck Cluck Sew, and the pattern is available at missouriquiltco.com. (Fun fact: Jenny uses Diagonal Seam Tape™ to stitch these blocks with accuracy and ease, and Allison created that, too! What a gal!)

Even MORE than loving your quilts, I am loving your comment you made about reading the graphics on the pattern. I am so very challenged when it comes to reading a pattern. No one understands WHY I don't get it! As an instructor at a local College, I taught through a more visual/kinesthetic approach. One day I was handed a packet of info and I asked what it was. I was told it was to explain how to teach the different learning styled student. I was shocked that it took so long to figure out that not all of us learn from reading a book. I taught using visuals because that is how my own brain works. Being a kinesthetic, visual, and then auditory learner helped me to reach those who didn't understand the books. Book learners have their own advantage. I was so happy to see you admit, Jenny, that you are not a pattern reader. I should have guessed why I could not follow a pattern, if I am not a book learner, lol! Thank you so much for reinforcing the fact that we do not all learn in the same manner. I truly wish that they had understood that 60 years ago!

Dee I too get so lost trying to figure out written patterns I am a visual learner also but didn't realize that until I was 40 years old I just thought i was dumb all these years , would have made a huge difference in my schooling !

@@penny9157 Yes, Penny, they did us no favors. In my freshman year of high school, the nun told my mother I was a genius but I was lazy. I didn't have a lazy bone in my body! I bombed in the college courses until I hit my junior year. Empty words on pages did nothing for me. Secretarial was best for me. It was all hands on! I too learned these things in my 40's. One of my professor's in 1995 was teaching hypnotherapy and he showed us how to determine a persons learning style. I aced everything after that, when I returned to College. All those years of suffering and heartbreak and punishment and no one understood why, Penny, welcome to the land of geniuses and misfit toys! 8 )

I didn't know I had learning disabilities until I was answering questions for my two boys. When I was watching how they were training them is when I was able to learn. ADHD and dyslexia. Who knew. We were just considered the dumb kids who couldn't learn but if I SAW you do something,I could do it too.

@@bettywhittington9654 yes just so sad for us but so good they are doing something about it now.
The Christmas version of this is just so pretty and special! It's always amazing how different quilts can look, just by changing up the fabrics.
❤ Jenny, Thank you for choosing the "Brightly" pattern frim Cluck Cluck Sew. It is adorable and easy enough for a beginner to feel confident in choosing to make it. While you were making this first quilt, all along I kept wondering about what the quilt would look like as a Christmas quilt. I was so happy that you anticipated your viewers' wish and made this into a Christmas quilt! It is so darling and I love the change you made by adding the Christmas pictures into the quilt star centers etc. Thank again, this quilt us already another new favourite of mine 🎉 ❤
I love patterns like this, then you can add blocks and increase the quilt size for your bed.

I love the intersecting block! It is a pretty and cheerful quilt! Oooh I LOVE the Christmas version even more!! ❄🎄
What a fun and easy pattern. Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks Miss Allison for allowing Jenny to show us. She makes it look so easy. Oh and by the way, brilliant idea creating the diagonal seam tape. I swear I can’t sew without it. 😊 have a wonderful weekend MSQC Crew. 🤗
Thank you Allison and Jenny for making our world more “BRIGHTLY”! It is just beautiful!
Fantastic quilt pattern! Jenny you've shown us how easy this complicated looking pattern is to do. Thanks so much. Loved your comment about us being the "boss" of our quilt block sewing. It put a smile on my face and in my heart. Your wit and humor are so much of why we want to see you weekly. Over the years, you've made us feel like family and friends. Thank you for sharing yourself with us... Blessings to y'all.
Believe it or not...I’m working on this pattern right now! I’ve already made it once. I’m now doing it in reds and cream to donate to an auction at my kids’ former elementary school!

I made this quilt recently .it was easy with Jenny's instructions and I love the bright colors. I used to do dark colors but found the brights are so uplifting. Thank you Jenny
I am making this quilt by just watching you in this video. I am just about finished piecing it together. It is easy to put together. Thank you so much for explaining it so clearly. I hope you and your family are having a Happy Thanksgiving.
I love this quilt! I can't blame you for wanting to make a Christmas version is just so gorgeous, I love everything about both quilts. I'm going to need to live an extra 100 years to be able to make all the quilts I want to to make. Thanks so much Jenny! ❤️
It sure is bright! Great colors for a kid's room.
I would love more tutorials of quilts you love like this one. Thank you Jenny
I think I'm going to try this with Bali pops and a black background. Thanks lady! Happy Thanksgiving to all my quilting friends out there!
I absolutely love this quilt pattern. I have had this pattern for a few years now and I have made this quilt like 6 times in different sizes and fabrics. I also made a fall and a Christmas quilt with this pattern. Have been thinking about making it in like Easter pastel colors with fussy cut centers. Super awesome Jenny. You just made my day. Thank you for showing others how easy this pattern is. Even a beginner can make this quilt. God bless

Is there any reason that you couldn't use 5" squares instead of 41/2"?
I adore the colours of this quilt. I bet it would be so dazzling with a black background.
“You are the boss of it”…. I hadn’t heard that used in relation to quilting, and I love it!!! 💕
That 2 1/2" x 8" ruler is my favorite. I use it more than any other. Sometimes you just need a small ruler. The longer ones seem to get in the way when you are cutting something like 2 1/2" squares, which we all do a lot for our flippy corners etc. LOVE this ruler. It is a great one to buy for a new quilter.
For some reason the Christmas quilt brought tears to my eyes! I absolutely love it. Wouldn’t it also be fantastic to embroider little Christmas designs in those center blocks? Thank you for this tutorial and to the pattern writer.
Both quilts are magic. Love how they turned out. Thanks so much. 💖🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing the Christmas pattern!
I love how you always show your quilts in a different color scheme. Now I’m thinking fall colors as well. You always make it look so easy-and it takes the fear out. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. Thank you!
My mind is running wild with different holidays etc. that this would look amazing in! Thanks Mrs. Jenny! ☺️❤️❤️❤️
I kept shrinking this down in my head and making it into a baby quilt. I love the bright colors.
Thank you Allison & Jenny. This is what I call a happy quilt, love the pattern and color choice.
Going to make this quilt for my granddaughters 3rd birthday in October. She is my bright star
Благодарю, у вас замечательный канал! Я из России, но ваши выпуски очень сильно люблю и смотрю их несколько лет.
Thank you Jenny, for this tutorial. For some reason, this video really calms me. I love it when you teach! It seems like you are talking just to me; a feeling I used to get with each tutorial you made years ago. I enjoy the many other videos your family puts out, but this one and the ones where you take the time to teach all the steps are really special to me. I have learned so much and have made many of your quilts. I love the Christmas quilt! Happy Holidays.
I'm so delighted that you did this tutorial. I have this pattern. I am planning on doing it in a patriotic theme for my son.
I've never been a fan of Christmas quilts, but that was GORGEOUS!
Such a beautiful quilt and I love what you did with the Christmas fabric! Love them both. Thanks so much for sharing every week. Have a blessed weekend.
Wowzers. I love all those bright colors.
I love this pattern! Thank you Jenny for show casing it, can’t wait to give it a try.💕
This quilt looks deceptively difficult. Thanks for showing such beautiful quilts!!!
I love love the Christmas quilt!!
I bought this pattern a bit ago and LOVE that there is a tutorial on it now! Thank you Jenny and Cluck Cluck Sew!!!
I love "Cluck cluck sew"! She's amazing
So simple, but it grabbed my attention. Love the Christmas version almost as much as I love the main one. I see a version hitting my table for one of my granddaughters
I love how bright and cheerful this quilt is, the fabrics you chose look amazing. I also love the Christmas one where you fussy cut the centers of the stars. I can visualize so many options. Thanks so much for showcasing this pattern. It is much appreciated!
This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing this gorgeous pattern and all the others you do as well. ❤
Love that you included instructions for precut ten inch squares in the instructions.
Jenny, I appreciate you so much. I learn something new each rime I watch you. Thank you.
I’m not a bright color person but I absolutely LOVE the Christmas fabrics!!! Adorable pattern!
Oh boy Oh boy oh boy! THIS is STUNNING! How utterly adorable and I love the color choice you did. This is racing to the top of my list for sure!!
One of my favorite quilt patterns to make and you made it easier.
Love the quilt in the Christmas fabric… so adorable!
I fell in love with the brightly colored quilt - so I knew what I wanted to do! And then she showed the Christmas version! Now I have a dilemma! Answer: do them both!!
Thank you Jenny for such a fun bright quilt and for showing it in Christmas fabric! Love it both ways!!
Oh I LOVE bright bold colors!1111
I bought and made this quilt due to this video. I am still new to quilting and this looked difficult at first glance but after watching the video it gave me confidence I could do this. I'm so pleased with it. I now have to get it sandwiched together and quilted. I just wanted to say thank you and your team for all you do. Happy Quilt day!
As if I couldn’t love you more - I also quilt by picture!!! Love your choice of the bright colors.
This pattern is super easy. I've already made 2 quilts using this pattern and 1 was a memory quilt that I had made for someone.
Such a cheerful quilt! Then you made it with Christmas fabrics!! How versatile this pattern can be! Beautiful 😍 thanks Jenny 😊
Thank you for your the tutorials. This a beautiful quilt, I loved the one on Christmas fabrics. Just stunning.
I have this pattern ! I use the seam tape on all of my machines. Her pattern and your tutorial is a winner. Thank you. My next project!🥰
I really liked the quilt you were showing us how to make. Didn't think it could get better until you pulled out the Christmas one. That's the one I'll be making mine out of.
Спасибо! Замечательный квилт, особенно понравился "рождественский" вариант. Санкт-Петербург. Россия
What a bright and cheerful fabric! Beautiful quilt!
Home run on this one Jenny. I love both versions. The Christmas quilt is awesome. Every time I do a purge and say I'm going to only use my stash you come up with an idea I cannot resist. I need therapy!
I love that you made a Christmas one too! As soon as I started the video, I though that this would be a great pattern for Christmas fabrics!
I saw this quilt in my LQS and picked up a kit months ago. I looked through the pattern and was a smidge overwhelmed. Glad to see it demonstrated so I can gain some mental bandwidth to get started.
LOVE the Christmas version!!❤️
Love this! The Christmas quilt is my absolute favorite! It's beautiful ❤
This pattern makes a great quilt. I think I like the Christmas quilt the best, maybe because it has more of the colors I’m drawn to in it. Thanks for all the great videos!
Love this pattern especially with the Christmas fabrics!
Jenny you are a MASTER with your quilting videos!
I'm thinking about doing this all in yellow. I'm not normally a big fan of Christmas quilts, but that one is beautiful! Love those fabrics.
I made this pattern as a Christmas quilt. Soooo much fun!
I absolutely love both these quilts!!! That Christmas one was about the prettiest I’ve seen, and I hope to make one for next year!!!
I love that you showed another color version. So fun.
Love Cluck Cluck Sew. Awesome patterns. I actually own this one and need to get busy. The Christmas one is fantastic.
I usually don’t buy patterns, but had to have this one when I saw it! I love both versions you made Jenny, I’m still deciding on what fabrics mine will be made of. Thank you for a great tutorial as always!!!
Absolutely love the Christmas quilt. Wow! I've been looking for a fun quilt that inspires my creativity, and it looks like this pattern leaves plenty of room for self expression. Thanks Jenny!!
This is a marvelous pattern! Especially love it in the Christmas! Thanks Jenny.
I gasped out loud when you showed the Christmas version! Thanks Jenny for another great video :)
such a fun pattern but love the Christmas version- putting the center blocks all the same really tied it together with the busy fabric and it is lovely- love the backing. great vision Jenny,
LOVE this gorgeous block!! I have some bright colorful fabric leftover from a bargello I can use to make this quilt. I LOVE MY NEW IRON!!!!! Thank you SOOOOO much for your fantabulous tutorials!!!
I made this quilt last year in 30s reproduction fabrics. Absolutely beautiful and so much fun to make!
Such easy blocks! Love how quickly it comes together
I’ve always preferred quilts with borders. Love both quilts, love the brights and the fussy cut centers
Jenny, I have the Brightly pattern because I love the look and I have two different sets of fabric to use with it once I get these Christmas gifts out of the way. Oh no! you made a Christmas one! Great idea--maybe for my bed next year! Thank you so much for this tutorial. It is going to help me so much with the pattern!
I love the quilt but I prefer yours! The Christmas one is gorgeous! Thanks for the tutorial!🌸🌺
You are the best teacher! I love Cluck CluckSew patterns. So cote and east to follow💕
I quilt by picture, that’s why I love your videos. I really love the Christmas quilt. Gonna have to try this one.
That's some crazy lighting you've got going on...I need sunglasses. I think a teenager would love this pattern with the bright colors.
Good evening Mrs. Jenny Doan. Love, love love your quilt. The bright colours are so awesome. Wow. I did a few quilts myself more than 10. Queen, double bed sizes and few single bed sizes. Like your colourings, that's how I like mine too, bright colours, EYE CATCHING REALLY. QUILTING THEM IS NOT EASY FOR me though. I don't do any quilts now but I LOVE LOOKING AT BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT QUILTS. Thank you for showing. Have a nice day
I just finished this quilt made with Halloween fabric. At the Longarm now. Missed Halloween but I’ll be ready for 2022! Great pattern
I just love Allison's patterns. They always turn out perfect and she is the best pattern writer I have found. Mandy Hawkins.
I love this quilt! Bright and beautiful!
Have been itching to make this since the tutorial came out. Love a versatile pattern & being able to change the stars to another block makes this even more appealing to me. I got my fabrics yesterday to make this version but my brain is thinking about many other possibilities for that center block or even just using a plain block! I also appreciate how easy this pattern is to cut out & assemble & the size is easy to modify to make it bigger or smaller depending on what you want! Thank You for sharing these wonderful, easy patterns as well as the beautiful examples of this quilt in other fabrics. You always inspire :)
Añossss siguiéndote desde 🇦🇷😷💖👏👏👏👏👏
I've always wanted to make a quilt and your tutorials are filling me up with inspiration and knowledge. Thanks!
I LOVE it when you do quilts in other colors! What a difference that makes! I hope to make a Christmas quilt with this pattern. I’ve made at least 9 or 10 quilts from your videos that immediately come to mind. Love them all!! As you can tell, I really do love this! Lol
Love this quilt and the bright fabric.
I bought this pattern to make a quilt for a friend and she loved the pattern but was concerned that it would be fairly hard and a lot of sewing. I had a chuckle because she has no clue about sewing and I told her I could do it without any problems. Lol. And after seeing Jenny make and get sew excited about it I can’t wait to get started. I’ll even have my friend watch this so she can see what I’ll be doing. Thanks for choosing such an awesome pattern by an awesome designer. I saw the pumpkin version too and loved it! I agree your lights are a little too bright. It does hurt the eyes after a few minutes. Thanks
