Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m beginning with flash photography and this is very helpful. Thank you.
Loved this video, so many times we think we need so much lights but there is so much one can do with just 2! I just found your videos recently Mr. James Quants Jr, you do flawless work sir. Funny this video reminded me about a decade ago I was taking pictures of wedding dresses and I attempted the cross lights with umbrellas and remember liking it because it gave(to me)an edge but the designer and stylist did not liked it at all. By watching this video I now know that cross lighting is more suited for sports. Thanks for all the great information you share through your channel and tons of good health to you so you can keep on creating amazing images!

Thanks for the feedback Alexander!
This video is just fantastic. I love the depth you go into and the great ideas for those of us who don’t have dozens of lights. I have just found your channel and the content has been very helpful for an amateur photographer like me.

Thanks for watching, Gatot!
I would like to see the two-light set up with athletes in action and see how you work with them. Awesome video by the way.
Appreciate all your effort in making these videos. I'm planning on trying a "drag and pop" type sport shoot in the near future. I think you have an example of this in your intro, football with red uniform. Constant light with longer shutter speed and late curtain flash.. Do you think outdoors at night is best to avoid seeing the constant LED? Thanks again from Sebastian, Florida
@QuantzPhoto

Thanks, Ted! For those rear curtain sync shots you'll need a dark space to control the light trails.
2 thumbs up James. Never can understand why folks hit that thumbs down. Anyways, great work yet again man :~)

Keep me on my toes!
Great video. Found this very useful. When you decided to go with ratios on your umbrellas. How did you determine you were dropping 2 stops? I didn't see you meter.
@QuantzPhoto
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bill. I made the decision from past experience although after looking closer at the results I should've made a few corrections as I noted in the video. A meter would have probably told me the same!
Awesome

Thanks for the great behind the scenes videos, i have really enjoyed them! It appears you are making all adjustments based on the back of the camera. Do you usually use a meter when setting up certain types of shoots? What light meter do you use/recommend?
@QuantzPhoto
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Nicolas, on shoots like these I'm actually using the computer and all the information it gives me. Back in the days when I metered a lot I used a Sekonic.

@@QuantzPhoto Thank you for the information! I was shooting tethered yesterday and for some reason it was so delayed i had to use the back of the camera, which was good enough but not what i wanted to be using.
I just want to know how you got the backdrop setup so perfectly!??
Interesting! Were you shooting with the R5? I was wondering why you stopped down the aperture 2 stops (7:21) instead of changing your shutter speed? Is depth of field less important with a white background like that?
@QuantzPhoto
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Galen, my max shutter sync speed with strobes on the R5 is 1/200 and you are correct on the depth of field with that type of image.
I bet he does a KILLER Clinton impression! =P Great video James! =)

When using two lights like this, does the double catch light in the eyes bother you?
