I show you my technique of how to make miniature tiles for models of nativity scenes. These tiles are as small as a fingernail (7 mm x 1.2 cm) and will be used to decorate the roofs of your Nativity scenes, dioramas and adobe houses.
In addition to being tiny, these mini tiles are very realistic, since they are made of stone and imitate real tiles very well. They are easy to make, but it is an artisan process and somewhat slow. In future videos I will show you how to make copies to complete the roofs faster.
The material I use to make them is DAS paste, very similar to baked clay. This porcelain exists in white, gray and brown, mix them together to achieve different shades and achieve more realism. As tools, we are going to need scissors, a soda can and a cylinder-shaped stick to give them the warped shape so characteristic of Arab and Andalusian tiles.
