@@ljlqh I have about 58 GB of mods and CC and it takes 63 seconds to load the game and another 20 secs to get into the save. Upgrade your RAM and a good CPU will make your gaming life top tier.

Mine takes, no joke, TWO HOURS TO LOAD! I'm so over it and am PRAYING I can fix it.

I have 400gb of cc for the sims 4, it took 3 hours to load!, but guess what- I merged everything I had, approx 200 files per 1 merge file for some categories such as hair cc or what not, merged using sims 4 studio. and it took me 5 mins! 5 mins to get into my game after that, I couldnt believe I cut down my wait time and got to keep all my cc. It took a long time to merge mind you, but I am happy I dont have to wait 3 hours to launch my game now. So I really dont understand why Twisted Mexi is saying that you dont have to merge it, because it literally made a huge difference for me@@caffeinatedmutt

Omg!!!! Girl I did not know you had a sims channel I just started back getting into sims and thinking about making a separate channel for it so good to see you!!!!!! Yayy this is awesome I will be catching up on your sims vids!!

What helped me was to not use any alpha cc. My game runs way faster. I also drastically have cut down and been mindful of what goes into my game. Just want to add that from my understanding ) I could be wrong) Twisted Mexi is not the creator of the More CAS columns. The creator of that is the same creator of UI cheats. Twisted Mexi has the AMAZING Better exceptions mod. Which finds and tells you what mods are broken or outdated and where they are located in the game. That is a must-have mod in my game. They also have the Better Build Buy mod. Which is amazing for builders. Nothing tops the loading screen of Sims 3 though 😂😂.

Finally!! I finally see a video that doesn't recommend merging ! I watched a couple of videos and had read about how people went from "30GB to just 15GB" after merging and I was like huh, so it shrinks the file size ?? I needed to do that since I was running low on space on both my laptop AND my cloud. Took me about 2 hours and what did it do/I get? ONE FILE THE SAME SIZE OF ALL THE MODS COMBINED. And I was like gorl, where is my 15GB. So after playing the game ( I can say tho, it did make my game run a bit faster) I decided to check my better exception logs and DAMN, I didnt notice it reports dupe mods and I was like gorl x2... !! I had unmerged EVERYTHING bc my mod folder was just chaotic and guess what, MAJORITY OF MY MERGED FILES WERE DUPES. So much of cc were sitting in subfolders downloaded by creator packs that I didnt even bother to check after downloading. I legit had 4+ of the same files. Therefore, just get rid of ALL folders within the mod file. Or if you are organised, do it by creator / type of content WITHOUT SUBFOLDERS so that you can avoid dupes that way. I just saw this video but i've merged all my cc and I'm still in the process of downloading cc and merging but to how I want my game to run perfectly, I've downloaded a duplicate spotter? app thing for windows and it scanned my whole folder an I had like twelve dupes but it came from downloading cc folders from yt then i accidentally went and downloaded the same thing....in general, idk, I use microsoft edge and download, it can actually tell you if you've got the file twice buy showing (1) beside it at the download icon thing. And i go through each content creator and create a folder specifically for em then merge. 30% of the time it's the same size as before ( all files unmerged space ) 10% of the time it's like a lil increase on the mbs and the remaining 60% would be less than the unmerged files. persoanally, I see that shit making changes🙆🏾‍♂. I feel like dem office ladies when I be merging too like ngl😭😭

I saw this recommendation (merge cc) and it made no sense. Good to see I'm not the only one! Also... Removing spaces and non-alphanumeric characters from filenames. It does NOTHING but make it hard to manage/update cc. Thanks for this!

I’m new to modding and have 13 gbs /2k cc files (mainly hair, I think) now after merging only the larger hair and clothing folders I had organized. I saved backups of the files and stuff just in case something went wrong with the merged files.

I wish I would have found this a year ago when you posted!! 🤦🏾‍♀️ I have 90 GB of mods in my folder so that would take my game take 35-45 mins on my laptop! And I have 1TB of SSD storage and a 24 GB RAM When I unchecked that stupid “show mods” menu that took it down to under TEN MINUTES without having to delete any mods! Thank you so so much! 💃🏾🙌🏾

for the tip of getting rid of the 'little annoying popup', i didnt delete that for a while until i saw this vid, and i just used it to make sure my mods worked, but now i think ima get rid of the popup so my game runs faster, like, my goodness, my game runs slower than a snail... (once, i had downloaded the slice of life mod and it didnt let me click or interact with any sims, or my own sim, so i got rid of the slice of life download and kept my wonderfulwhims mod and it works perfectly fine now! just for anyone who may have had the same problem, or still has :] )

girl THANK YOU i turned off all the mods showing in the start and my sims loaded in a few seconds 😭😭 i have over 20,000 mods and it used to take like 20 minutes to 1 hour

I tried method 1 and it does work, but you also have to take into account that when you delete the cache files the game needs a bit of time to rewrite them so in reality, it still takes a bit to load up the game, but for me, that's just fine because it gives me a chance to get up and do some things like get food or use the bathroom while it's loading. However, it is still a lot faster than the nightmare I went through when I played Sims 2. That one took a good 30 minutes to load at times, but that computer was a lot smaller than what we have now and at the time I didn't even know what mods were. Sims 3 loaded a little better about 5 minutes but that computer was also small and I only used one mod. I wasn't brave enough to try them yet. I did have all of those huge packs though. Sims 4 is a different story, this computer takes about 60-90 seconds to load but I had this computer built from the ground up. I love gaming computers. I can't comment on the sims 1 because I don't remember. It's been too long, but I do know that that computer was a lot smaller too.

*COUGH,* Me and my 350+GB CC folder ROFL... take an hour to load. I like my game to look pretty, and I love Alpha cc, so you just have to deal with it. I can't do MM cc, it just isn't what I like. So waiting is just a price you have to pay for a game I will play. No lag either, since I have 24 GB of Ram...and 4 TB HD..and also I don't merge at all; waste of time, been there done that and that's exactly what you said about the updates..So I keep them unmerged.

I play on my laptop and have 232gb😂😅. Idk if I can get an SSD for my laptop. I Guess i will be unmerging and looking for duplicates. My game takes 30 mins to load 😂 but the lag is crazy

I have a gaming pc 180gb i keep my game clean btw - and my cc unmerged my game opens in 3-5 mins depends if i have another tab on my 2nd monitor

Mine loads fast but the gameplay lagg is annoyingggg, I get a 1 hour tops before I turn it off

How did you install your ssd

I have over 100gb. Lmao I must be nuts. I merge but keep them labeled merge 1.... the keep a back up of each merge file in a separate folder. When I get exceptions I'll swap my merge folder for my unmerged folder this way when I run the game and get the exception again it tells me which merge is the problem ie merge 73. I fix it and remerge it.

in sfs you can unmerge files so you dont have to have 100gb of extra cc on ur computer

Mine took 3 min and 40 seconds to load. I have about 3.5 gb of cc and my box was not even checked. I also have an ssd. Guess I’m stuck with a 4 min load time for a saved game.

Merging mods do speed up Game loading. My game was taking up 6 mim to load. After I merged my cc it took about 2 minutes.

My total CC size in my The Sims 4 is 180GB and i have to merged it all or my game wont run, i already have a high spec pc with Ryzen 7, 32GB Ram and RTX 3070, What should i do to make it even faster ? i want at least above 100FPS stable .. Is outdated Script mods also slows down the game ..?

Yeah... I'm not judging anyone over how much cc they downloaded lmao. I'd be quite the hypocrite. But nice, that pop up window is probably my issue lol. I've never disabled it because I like to use it to see what's installed or not. But I probably don't need it.

love my cc too much to cut down have around 11,000 files start uptime doesnt bother me if it take 10 minutes fine by me make a coffee, it when my gameplay gets disturbed that annoys me

ya thats usually the case since its cheaper to get a larger HDD than SSD. hope you get your files moved over at some point. its definitely helps a little bit with performance❤️

@@centraltime3680 you’re absolutely right. As you speak, I’m doing some heavy duty cleaning. I’m sorting four years worth of CC and Mods. I now stress to any new simmer that when you start using Mods/CCs to start organizing from jump. It makes your simming life so much easier. You live and you learn! So, it’s doable to clean and look for duplicates. But you must find the power within.

Here is my issue. My game has 65gb of content. Except for taking a long time to load, once it does it runs fairly well for such a ridiculous amount. I am playing a fairly good gaming laptop. As a long time, sims player (since sims 1) I find Sims 4 to be the buggiest, shallow and most butchered version of the sims. What I mean is that EA has stripped this game from animations, customizations, open world and mostly fun. It has created a greedy poorly designed, half broken game with popup windows, rabbit wholes and spontaneously appearing and disappearing game features they were too lazy to actually make an animation for. They release packs with recolored repackaged content and call it new (if it works at all). What this game has going for it is that it is pretty. It is a pretty vapid shell of its predecessors. I am saying this because my sims 3 had one mod because it just worked pretty well otherwise. So now half my mods just fix the poorly designed features (like for example allowing kids to walk a dog) and the other half add animations and game play (or cross compatibility) that should have been included with each new pack released. So, my mods are either there because a feature is broken, badly designed or because the game is not fun. The only frustrating thing is that my interaction wheals (when talking to other sims, clicking on refrigerator or computer) has a 5-6 second delay. This is not that big of an issue on fridges or computers, but it is when one sim wants to talk to another, and their attentions span is about 1 second. I am constantly pausing to have a convo and sims are constantly cancelling actions, not following them in order you assign them and so on. You'd expect to give a sim a list of things to do and for them to follow but no such luck (yes, I know autonomy can be turned off. But your assigned task should always overwrite autonomy. It's called a smooth game. Turning autonomy off is just not a solution and makes the game even worse. But hey my sim can piss himself as long as he gets to do those pushups). The game is riddled with badly tunes features making game play into a battle rather than a game. So I keep loading mods like "don't do ..." and "always do..." just because EA did not bother. Sorry for the long post. My point is I have well organized mods, which I update with every patch (you know when EA bothered to fix the puddle mopping outdoors while introducing 50 other problems, they waved their hand about) and I tried removing some mods and cc. But since this game is so crappy, I can't do that because it's so broken, badly tuned and boring without mods I don't want to play it at all. All I need is a way to speed up the interaction wheal (since EA redesigned it, it became even more of an issue. They fixed nothing and made it even messier than it was before). So my question is, how do I without removing mods speed up the interaction wheal? And what mod updates the interaction wheal and hides all the wedding bs under some far away category I will never need to look at since the pack is completely broken anyway? ( i tried tmex solution and i do not like it. It makes things even slower). PS: i tried merging and it doesn't do jack lol

how is 49gb excessive? you need cc to make the game better, cc clothes for every gender and age range, cc for the exterior and exterior of your builds. im confused
