Tried the settings on my Q85R and can attest to the great picture. Had a LG B7 in the past but passed onto the parents due to image retention issues (square box in the centre, most likely from Xbox dashboard). I go QLED for this reason and I am soured on OLED. But OLED had great inky blacks and with this setup, QLED has the advantage of more popping of colour and brightness. Tried Fifa 21, Last of Us 2 and Forza 7 and they look tremendous. For me I found that Standard was the best starting point but natural is great also

You can adjust the settings all day to replicate OLED look on a particular scene, but doing that u can crush the shadow details The thing is hardware limitations can never be entirely overcome by software. It might give u a pleasing OLED look on one scene but might ruin other scenes

Very true. I tried to use the same philosophy on my old Hitachi LED as well as my Samsung gaming monitor and the results were as you described. However, applying The Tech Giant's settings on my Q6DR (Q60R) resulted in no loss of detail in the backs at all, simply improved their inkiness. It all depends on the quality of the panel and what brains are driving it.

After calibration all I have to do is pause any dark scene and adjust the brightness/contrast up to see how much detail is present and compare that to what I see with my settings. I am not saying in any way that QLEDs can match OLEDs blackest blacks, but to say that QLEDs lose detail when you adjust them down to their blackest potential is absurd!

I copied your settings for my Q60R (contrast at 48) and think it looks amazing! Thanks for the tip! YOU GOT A NEW SUB! 🤟😎 TIP for OLED like Game Mode: If you play in HDR and are having troubles achieving an inky black, especially with Cyberpunk 2077, do the following - Turn off Intelligent mode, lower the brightness and contrast (-2, 48), Contrast Enhancer to Low, and make sure in the Game Mode Settings that Black Enhancer is *off*. On PC you can't adjust colour, tint, and of course Contrast Enhancer has been replaced by Gamma. That's ok, just make sure you select BT and not 2.2 Standard and keep it at 0. Keep Colour Tone to Standard but this is a personal preference as I find, especially with PC, the colour is already accurate (because Windows/Mac automatically treats the QLED as a PC monitor uses it's built in calibrated/native colour profile). Oh, and for Windows users, in the AMD/NVIDIA control panel make sure the output is set to 4:4:4 PC standard and that 10-Bit is enabled, otherwise you will get nasty colour banding and dithering.

For most neutral colour reproduction, a movie scene is the ideal picture to test on as you are looking to match the producer camera settings. The OLED set to movie will be the closest you can get to D65 white balance . So for the QLED to look natural on all content and as close as to the OLED full potential repeat the test with Movie mode on. Natural mode is not bad at all but it normally exhibit too much red or Blue and that would be far off from Movie near accurate colours without being calibrated professionally. I hope this helps

The Tech Giant I’m sure if you apply the same settings to it ( like in this video) then it’ll be the same as oled. I was considering an oled for the brilliant picture quality but I was really worried about screen burn and the fact the manufacturer won’t do anything about it if it did. This tv has a 10 year anti ‘screen burn’ warranty. I know qled doesn’t get screen burn 👍. I know that flat panel TVs don’t have amazing sound so I’ve connected from the one box optical out to a dac, then I’ve ran a phono cable to my right phono input to my b&w subwoofer. Fantastic bass now while watching regular tv 👏👍. Obviously the subwoofer is connected to my av receiver ( left input) too 😉. Can’t wait to see your video on this tv ‘the frame’. You can keep it on all day as a picture if you want. Just press quickly the power button. The two gripes I have with it so far are,,,,, it’s sometimes quite laggy through the input choices, I’ll try to scroll to say KZread, it’ll not scroll then all of a sudden it scrolls, the other is at the top right of screen, I’ll quite often get pop up menus like connect to smart device or Ethernet issues 🤷‍♂️. Otherwise it’s a fantastic picture 👍

I’m still leaning towards the Q90R, especially if there are adjustments to the settings while ~IN~ game mode that can improve the display at least a decent amount without losing the performance of Game Mode HOWEVER, I’m accepting more and more that my viewing and gaming habits, even at my peak many years ago, wouldn’t likely put me at any risk of burn in on on OLED HOWEVER... I have an occasional tendency to fall sleep in mid-scroll on my phone or to fall asleep before turning the display off on my tablet... My concern (though totally within my power to address) is that I’ll sometimes end up falling asleep mid show/movie and that the logo of the channel I’m streaming or the menu of the movie could be on-screen for hours at a time which COULD pose a problem... Are there any timer-settings that can be set on C9 or even CX? Like could I set the tv to give a prompt at a specific time that it’ll power off unless I give a manual override/response? My housemate also tends to fall asleep mid-movie and aside from the display being on half the night and keeping the menu-screen on loop, the audio is obviously looping as well. (His is NOT an OLED) If that is an option on the OLED’s, (tv off timer) then that potentially eliminates my “I fell asleep a lot and that’s why the ghost of Homer Simpson haunts my TV now” concerns

2 years late but I'm in the same situation. My usage wouldn't put me at risk of any OLED burn in but I know myself and I know at least once I'd fall asleep without turning the TV off first which is making me lean towards QLED. I'm sure you've made your purchase now, what TV did you end up going with and how has performance been.

The -2 brightness won't work on the Q95. I have it on +50. The rest of your settings are almost the same basic default settings from the factory, for the Q95. Thanks for the video!

I couldn’t find a setting that was quite right on my 55” Q80T... until I saw your video. With the Samsung’s inherent brightness, these settings make the q80t function just as well as the OLEDs for a much better price. Thanks so much!

I'm about to order a Q80T, and I will abandon a 2017 OLED which, apart from the colors at the beginning, disappointed me a lot because I had a lot of burn-in problems right away and also faded colors. So I'll have to set up my new TV to get to OLED-like settings. This video will help me, thank you!

Great tips,This is something that I've noticed via trial and error is what you've recommended, natural plus I Also like sharpness does wonders with HD and UHD, I don't know if this is correct but I think intelligent auto/adaptive picture on 576i or Standard definition does work decent on smoothing things out, Giving more of a near 720p, using it with 4k full HD can ruin skyline scenes 👍
