Make: LED WOODEN CLOCK

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I made two of these digital LED wood clocks for my two sons for Christmas - they loved them.
I built the boxes out of 3/4" plywood and put maple veneer over the box.
The LED clock shines brightly through the wood maple veneer - very happy with the results.
I took some inpsiration from the I Like to Make Stuff video here:

If you would like to build you own digital LED wooden clock, hopefully this video gave you some good ideas and inspiration!

Nice project. I have never used veneer or contact cement either. At one time I had thought about making a clock like this but making the wood super thin for the clock face. I wound up not doing it because I thought that by the time the clock shone through, the wood would be too weak. I like this solution much better and might try this method sometime.

+CFB Creations I thought about that as well, like taking the router and hogging it out until there was a super thin layer left. The veneer was much easier! Thanks for checking in!

Why you didn't just purchase a clock kit from eBay for the same price of the clock you got from the store? Not sure what you're using to film but if it's a DSLR you can attach a stereo microphone on it and the audio would be much clearer. Great video. I like how the clocks turned out!

+Ken C Sorry for the late reply - right now I am just using my iPhone for video which is what is causing the audio problems. I could have done the eBay route, but these were so cheap and easy!

AT 11:08 you can see that it is centered when the PM indicator is lit up. Its a tough call what exactly to use to center with.

I have safety concerns: 1) the clock is likely to attract children, and an open side allowing fingers into the wiring harness is a recipe for disaster. 2) An over heated diode or other component could start the wood on fire. If I were you I would recall this gift.
