We did the fasting and prayer every week at our small church back home in the Philippines before we proceed to evangelistic work particularly went to the mountains and hospitals, God works wonderfully, powerfully, spiritually. It's proven biblically.

I am asking this group of Christians to pray for my husband and me. He became Catholic and I continued in Protestantism. He would go to mass then come to church with me (but he grew up as a Protestant. He feels that he can only worship in an Apostolic Church.) I heard about Hank Hanegraaff (The Bible Answer Man) becoming Eastern Orthodox. I personally could not convert to Catholicism, but I decided to looked into Orthodox and researched it, etc as I wanted for us to be in the same faith so I thought perhaps this could be a compromise we both could make. My husband and I were moving and he was open to checking out the Orthodox Christian church. We decided to join it. It is a beautiful service and very meaningful liturgy but so many things feel rote and I question many of the fasts and some of the doctrine. I have come to peace with venerating saints who were martyred and made Christianity possible. I understand icons and why they were necessary in the early church, etc. But the rote prayers/chants and the strict calendar and do this on this day and the level of honor and attention given to the monastic life, I do not get. Some of the doctrine such as services for those who have died at 40 days after death, etc are nice but are they Biblical? I am sorry for rambling. I am asking for prayers to help with discernment. If this is the correct church that God wants us in, then pray He will settle my mind and help me understand it. If it is not, please pray for my husband to see it and for us to find the right church. Thank you and blessings to everyone.

God is not about changing our situations, but giving us the strength and skills on how to get through them. His Grace is sufficient. In our weakness He makes us strong. Romans 8 is filled with spiritual truth. Praying for our fleshly needs is not the way to pray.

You can always get some sugar cubes and eat those, instead of filling up on a meal, or drinking something sweet. That protects your health but still leaves your hunger, & denies your flesh. 😊

I know the very book to meditate on regarding fasting. Isaiah 58 💞there's so much there!! This is a central and very personal passage for meant for me. I desire to honor God, testify that God's ways are higher & become "the repairer of the breach".

One great source on learning all about fasting is Jentzen Franklin. He's fasted 21 days in January for years, & awhile back began having his church to as well. ( FREE CHAPEL) So he's taught on fasting thoroughly. Did a great job, he's very interesting to listen to.
