If you pollish the edge of acrylic that goes into the base, the light will go thru the acrylic will be much brighter. You can do that by using a propane torch and just go across the edge to get it warm enough to smooth itself out. There are other ways to do it without using a torch, but the torch is much faster. Just don't get it so hot that it starts melting everything.

not if you cut it on a laser, the edge is already polished if your settings are correct no torch necessary, now what you can do is sand the all the other edges to frost them so that the light bounces back a little that will actually help but yay no torch needed sorry Garrett!

Use a MAP Gas torch for polishing acrylic - the propane torch may work alright, but a MAP Gas torch burns much hotter and it’s better for thicker acrylic. Be careful not to burn the edges! Use safety protection and make brief passes on the jagged edges. It might be overkill, but I just wanted to share. Thanks!

this is an amazing tutorial yall. i was able to set my settings perfectly with this thank you so much
Any changes you make to the image are ignored when you enable pass-through mode. LPI included. So, either bring in your photo with the removed background and edit it in lightburn OR bring in your edited image and enable pass-through. Nothing you did in lightburn was used, once you enabled pass-through.
Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge with us. You are the best!!!

Just starting my laser business, great info and inspo, thanks!
Of course the guy would say size is all about perspective 🤣 - Love the way you guys are never shy about sharing your settings and tips and tricks. My trick is I would have all the red selected, held ctrl and unselected the outer layer and while all the bits and pieces from the offset are still selected - hit delete. I do this a lot so it's what helps me.

Great Video.
Loved your work and attention to detail. What brand of machine do you suggest?
Using imager to adjust the picture, Lightburn is a lot more powerful than you know and can do all of that and more you could have done all that in half the time just using your laser software.

Great video guys. Ive done a few of these with my CNC machine. Arent you concerned about using sports logos without permission?
If you are using an image processor like imagr all image adjustments should be done in imagr and nothing should be changed in lightburn besides power/speed and making sure pass through is checked even dpi should be set it in imagr
Love the tutorials can you do the same with x tool pro 20 please !!!!!!!
Use gold or silver mirror paint on the back make them into mirrors. I wonder if it will make the picture show up better?
What size is the acrylic you used in the video?
Does this work with a fiber or diode laser?
Sweet
can you use a non co2 laser and still use umagr?
Would this work with the xtool d1 10 watts? (Diode)
I’m trying to figure out why you have to reverse the image? When I engrave like this using glass, I will lay a piece of black foam core on my wasteboard and then lay the glass on top of it. When it finish the image is beneath the glass and the smooth side has the correct orientation. I have not tried this method with acrylic, but I have some that I will try today. Hope to have a video with the glass shortly.

The etching was done on the front of the acrylic, so they would flip it to have a flat surface to the front. And now it is correct.

Try that the shape of the acrylic is not larger than 8" wide x 9 high and that the engraving is not so deep or the light will not reach the top as you can see in the Vans logo.

Quick question about something no one talks about, lots of videos about ideas of what to sell or getting your laser business going etc. What I don't see is anything about how do you get orders? If from Etsy, do you get instant notifications that you received an order? If selling locally do you use the square etc. How do you receive orders?
I don't see how you're able to do this, but I hope you can help. I tried 2 different LED strips and they just can't properly light up my acrylic sign. Mostly it's a faint light near the top where the strip is.

Thia is what sorts out the amateurs from the true designers. . These guys are just redistributing ad nauseum the same tutorials that have been out there for years. From my experience, when you are not doing to well in the business, you generally start doing youtube videos due to lack of creativity. It boring as bat shit. And yes, they copy because they dont know how to be original. I would never put my designs online, because their is nothing like them around.

@@_desertwalker_ I could also do without his animations. Just my opinion but I prefer just straight forward this is how it's done.
Do not use alcohol or any kind of solvent on acrylic, as it will cause it to crack.
Actually that is not the process, if you used Imag-R you set the layer to passthrough, and you dont adjust the image in lightburn
"It's easy and cheap to get into" rofl sure if you completely ignore the cost of the laser engraver
Your engraving seem to be too deep. Either those LED bases are weak in power, or the engraving is too deep in order to let light go through it.
Don’t use alcohol on acrylic! You’ll scratch it

There is so much to learn about Lightburn and they keep relasing new things. It's hard to keep up. We mainly do cutting, we don't do much engraving at all. Part of why we like to do these videos is all the feedback we get on what we did wrong. Like, we didn't need to do Image Adjustments after we downloaded it from imag-r and acrylic doesn't like alcohol. We plan to do it again later and include all the tips we get from comments. Thanks, Bryan! ~garrett
