TIP Its a bad idea to transmit with more than a few watts in the city or highly populated residential areas as the transmitter can overload everyone radio receiver in the immediate area, this will lead to complaints and swift crack down, so be warned. Its 1W max in dense areas or 10 ~ a few hundred Watts in rural , and do not jam or interfere with a licensed broadcaster. Do tests with a fm radio reception around the TX site to make sure all is ok. Need a spectrum analyzer too ensure its not splattering other bands.

You can add output filter cans to transmitters that eliminate everything except the frequency you need however you need a tracking generator to set up the filters but those have come down in price for the Chinese units. If you are passing only your frequency you are good to go. If you want to use in an urban environment one will need to add a transmitter circulator an appropriate dummy load before the filter cans. Any stray RF that gets past the filters and tries to get back to the transmitter, will be shunted to a dummy load. This helps prevent intermodulation when an external signal makes it past the filters and gets into the transmitter creating harmonic frequencies which might fall on most any other frequencies including public safety and business frequencies. Inter mod gets many burned by regulatory agencies when their signals wind up in the wrong place.

Considering that in the end you connected your transmitter to the amplifier output (11:08), I guess your next video will be about how to run an amplifier in reverse in order to use it as an attenuator ;-) Is the designation of U1 and U2 readable or was it sanded off? It would be interesting to know the types.

@@mw10259 you probably blew the output transistor. Bad coax, or bad antenna is the reason. Replace the blown transistor. It should be rd15hvf1 i guess. Don't buy from china or (and) with low prices. Minimum 10$ for 1 transistor or you will get fakes. Use RG58 for lengths under 5 meter. Use low loss coax for lengths > than 5 meter such as rg213/214/lmr400. . Don't use 75ohm coax, it will blow your transistor again. Be aware that blown RF mosfets shows as working on most transistor testers. Check your coax (shield and center conductor) for open/short circuit. Check that the antenna is rated for the power you use, is 50ohm and is not damaged in any way. And get a swr meter to check your swr. Over 2.0:1 swr is bad. 1.50 is good. Under 1.50 is perferct. Hope it helped you

I bought a cheap Chinese version of EBay, for under 20.00 bucks.. The strangest thing, I use one in the car, and one in the house.. When I walk arround in a 6 to 8 block circle, I easily can pick up my mussic from home... It's not powerful enough to over ride broadcast FM stations... But I'm amazed how my old anolog FM tuner s pick up off my cd player or smartphone.. I have no idea on the wattage, built in battery that charges with a type C cell ph charger.. I even had the idea of using two transmitters at the same time, and the range doubled to a insane range, but not very audible, as the feed back was bad, even at 20 feet distance from each other... Just a spliter cable from the head ph jack.. I'm using a empty FM frequency not in in use to stay anonymous with the neighbour's...

@@dazaro3 Well, stereo coders must have low pass filter 15 kHz in audio input. That is because FM Stereo multiplex uses 19 kHz pilot tone to start stereo decoding in a receiver. That pilot tone is 8-12 % of the maximal modulation sound. Thus it can be severely jammed by 19 kHz sounds in modulation (sound you want to transmitt). Try this simple solution: Use only 96 kbps MP3 sound files as their highest freqency does not go above 15 kHz. Even 128 kbps can sound good. If you want to transmitt sound from some studio, make simple RC 15 kHz filter, or use equaliser and press down all filters for frequencies above 15 kHz before transmitter input,....

Just worked it out, You must have got it wrong, with your 1.5 mile for 9mw, and using the rule, that it will take four times the power to double the transmission, you get 24 miles at just 2.3 watt, when it should be 80+ watts, 9mw will go about as far as your outside toilet, , ha :- Miles \ Power 1.5 = 9mw 3 = 36mw 6 = 144mw 12 = 576mw 24 = 2304mw

But i think there are many variables, the main 4 are, 1) the height of the antenna allowing a greater line of sight, 2) is the antenna directional, both transmit and recieve, 3) the sensitivity of the reciever, 4) atmospheric conditions, , the VHF 100mhz 3 meter band has very little skip, but i wont rule it out, cos with certain conditions like a high pressure, i remember the old analouge 471-847mhz UHF TV frequencys skipping, and even picking up scandinavian TV, , , ha
