I love the patina finish that I created on this accordion cardboard journal. Whether you call it an art journal or a junk journal, it is delightful! I created handmade washi tape to go along with it that ties the entire book together!

The finished pages look like the old way they used to “marble” book covers. Really cool❗️. I’d never have guessed there were that many layers or different paints on there. It looks like just the rust & the patina.

Thanks, Lynn! You might be able to get a similar look with the just the rust and patina. I just like all the paint! I'll have to try the simple way as well and see how it looks.💕

How many layers of paint and or collage does it take to get rid of the lines from the cardboard showing through?

Probably quite a bit of paint or a thicker piece of collage paper. Since that doesn't bother me, I've never tried to cover up the texture of the cardboard.💕
