Good Morning I want to ask thank you very much for taking your videos to explain and teach people to lose their fear of trying to make objects never imagined able to do . Thank you for taking the have us ... I am Brazilian and always watch your work .
That yoyo is perfect for looping
For a first go at it, that yo yo is super responsive, as far as I can tell. You've convinced me to try and make my own. Great work by the way.
Haha, that is great!
I used my Axminster AWVSWL1200( it's the same as the Laguna 1847). A great lathe although quite expensive for a beginner! I would suggest starting out with a "Mini Lathe", that is what I did and it served me well. Most models will be fine. Good luck, Alex.
No worries, good luck with it! You will have great fun! Alex
My mom, who is in her early 70's now, was a real whiz with a yo-yo when she was a kid. Maybe I will make her one out of a nice piece of something pretty. Thanks for the idea of the screw chuck, Alex.
Love it! Great project
For someone this young he is very talented
great looking project, and you seem a natural at working it. Thanks for sharing
I use a 3" hole saw to cut blanks for yoyos. I then put both halves on the pen mandrel with a washer in the middle. This makes it so the shaft goes all the way through, but I like the fact that I can see both halves at the same time to make sure they look the same. I use a popsicle stick for the spacing of the string. I want to try to make one with a ball bearing next. Great first Yo Yo. I love the small simple projects that are good for my beginning students. (pen, top, yo yo, wand)
This video is like "The most satisfying video ever" XD
Hi I'm only 13 from lreland and just getting started in wood turning and I'd just like to say thank you and you have been a big inspiration to me:-)

Sounds like a great idea. Must be next on my project list.

Great job buddy!
wow ! u were actually good at yoyoing!
sasori puppet skills right there
Very nice project. Alan Stratton
Nice work, there was a time in like 6th grade when we all had like 20 yo-yos each
Another great project Alex,
Thanks, when is comes to end grain there is nothing specific I can suggest regarding technique, sorry. As long as your tools are sharp you should be alright , having said that end grain will always require a bit more sanding. Alex
Great job Alex
thank you for your instructions. i am building some for my grandkids to play with.
اعجبتني الفكرة جدا شكرا على المجهود
Nice work! I made one using a hole saw bit and drill press. I glued a dowel where the center bit goes through.
INCREDIBLE!!!!! :)
Good job. Thanks Alex.
Dude that's awesome
Excellent!!
you are so creative
I was worried that a steel axle would be too slippy and you would be sending your yoyo to sleep all the time, but it seemed to work out fine, so good job!
really profesional good job
perfect project
If you adjust where one half of the yoyo sits on the axle, there seems to be no way to ensure the rod will be in as far on one side as on the other, if that makes sense. I'm not sure if it would be enough to throw it off balance or not. I suppose you could measure it out before sticking the axle in. This video is very inspirational, I plan to use the biggest hole saw we have, use the positive parts of the cuts, and just deal with having a hole all the way through in the center. I can plug the ends of the holes on the outside with wood and sand them, maybe? Btw, I bet reenactors would love these. They're always looking for a period accurate way to have fun. Thanks!
Wow nice, I finally finished up a tough project I found googling Hyezmar’s Woodworking Bible. Nadine got it as well, and she’s also doing great progress.
Awesome! :D
Nice, a great toy. 🖒👌🤘

Cheers! If you go to woodgears.ca Matthias Wandel goes into detail about the bandsaw design.

First vid I've seen of yours, subscribed straight away, awesome! You should make an unresponsive yoyo with the butterfly shape, put a bearing in it, with some metal weights!

awesome. I'm sure you have any questions. by !.?
COOL!!!!!
Have you ever tried to make the tops of 1960 era. They were wood but had a hard nylon point to turn on, you wound them up by starting the string at the smallest diameter and kept winding up until you ran out of string. You also threw it something like a yo-yo but with a timed flick of the wrist to send it through the air with the small point down so that it would land on it and continue to spin.
nice yoyo dude noce
I have to make one!
I want one!
Well good for a newbie to Yo-Yos but nothing to other pros

Awesome Job Alex!! Man that Yo-Yo worked very well!

wall does it work without friction pads?
verry good
how long does it sleep?
Nice
were to do you expect us to get all of this fancy stuff
that was awesome i have yoyos but none of them are wood or homemade
can you do a tutorial like this for butterfly yoyo pls.
Where did you buy a sharpener at? I can't seem to find one at a good pricing. I use tools that are quite old and getting dull.
