Cool, so good to hear this, we really hope it helps👍. Be sure to check out Part 1 about templating too. We would love to see how you get on! Let us know at instagram.com/sailhubchannel/ ⛵️Good luck!👊
Wow, these two videos about the sprayhood are so incredibly well made! 🤩Thank you so much for putting this together and what a champ Danny was, sewing it that quick. 😯 We have yet to replace our old sprayhood which is falling apart. Already bought the fabric but didn't dare to start working on it yet. 😄 But all of this is so incredibly helpful. 🤗

Cool! Glad you enjoyed it and it’s helpful! Do let us know how you get on, we would love to see how you get on! Sailingclimbers sounds fun, I used to love climbing! It’s such a good companion sport to a sailing too! There’s a lot of kit but it’s not like bikes and the likes! We will check you guys out later this evening! 👍⛵️🧗♂️
Excellent video, well done Danny, definitely need some of that double sided sticky tape

Hello hello! Good stuff that sticky stuff! If you can’t fix it with tape it’s not worth fixing!
I'm in the process of making my own spray hood ("dodger" as we call them here) and have been watching every relevant video I can find. I really like the adjustable webbing feature at the aft corner of your spray hood and will incorporate this into my design. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Cheers! Glad you like 👍
I’d caution that a dodger and all boat canvas should be a dark color that doesn’t show the dirt and mildew. Light colored canvas needs cleaning and the result from that is a wearing off of the waterproofing.

Thanks! For sure, those guys have it nailed for sure! You should see there sails, completely handmade still. Awesome. I’m not sure they do have a website but I will call the guys and find out for you! 👍
Great video. Interesting and to the point. Thank you for making it and showing us Danny's skilled work. I love watching craftsmen do their thing. Superb result. One question: how did he seal the inner edge of the window cutout, after he'd cut it out with the scissors ( last step). Some people fold the edge in but I didn't see that, and I don't know how he would have hot knifed the edge either.

After looking back, I don’t think Danny did anything after cutting the canvas away from the windows. So they aren’t sealed. It seems to have lasted well so far 👍🏼
Great video. Thanks

Hi I may have missed it but how many meters of material do you need to purchase?
@SailHub

Hi, please check out part 1. There we show you how to take the pattern. For the amount of paternity material you will need to take a tape measure to your boat and make an educated guess based on the frame size. 👍
Hi. These comments are really directed at an American audience. Bolt ropes: they are wonderful but no American boatbuilder has ever used them and a retrofit is impossible. The material they are using appears to be a polyester fabric like Top Gun. It is not Sunbrella. Top Gun has a limited range of colors and, frankly, they are rather bland and industrial looking. My customers normally prefer Sunbrella for it's colors and feel but if Top Gun is appropriate, it is cheap and super easy to work with and lasts for ever. Look at the way he finished the windows with a raw edge; that would be a disaster with Sunbrella. High quality vinyl windows: I think not. He is using rolled vinyl which will go opaque in a few years. We only use pressed vinyl sheets like Strataglass or Crystal Clear which are infinity superior products, much longer lasting and a lot more expensive. I make these comments because the lady makes it sound so easy...... it is not. Magnasson has 40 years of experience and it shows; Danny was well taught, he is doing this every day and it shows. l hate to burst your bubble but if you are getting into canvas making, have the dodger be the LAST project on your list.

Hi! Thanks is for your comments I’m sure your potential customers will be very pleased to read this. 👍 As for not trying it yourself, personally I think is it’s a sense to option to try, not because it’s easy, far from it. But because it’s safe, a re-rig for example is maybe not a good diy job. Oh, the vinyl is still going strong too. But yes, agreed most rolled vinyl will only last a year or so.
Spreyhead??.?😂
