    We must be the treadmill motor clan. I have 4 of them too. I bought 116 - 18650 power cells for 40 bucks. I'm going to run my motors on 96 volts to keep the amperage down.

    Thankful for the video is the speed controller fit to control a club car has a DC Motor 48V ‘4.0KW’ armeture current 110A. Field Current 10A speed2500rpm . Also the controler can reverse the rotation ? Thank you

    Actually, it's rated only for 150v to 220v dc, so it can't handle your motor. Next, the dc motors can change their direction of rotation easily by interchanging the wires or adding a single push double throw switch, but i haven't added that to this device.

    Thanks ! Actually, i have gone through these situations in the past where my rectifier got damaged after continuous drawing of 10 Amperes even though its is rated at 35A. So, its just to avoid such a situation again since i am planning on using this device in my future experiments. 😊

Would you be able to help me with designing one for the my 36 pole Samsung washing machine motor? I would like to run it on DC. It is a 0.9hp 1400rpm, 2amps 310V and is wound up in three phase.

    What is the value of inductor in the Filter ? Can you please tell what was the value of peak to peak ripple? Because the value of capacitors you used and assuming value of inductor around 1 mH, the ripple could be as high as 30% or much higher depending upon current withdrawn.

    Input is 220v ac. Motor voltage is 180v dc. No, not at all. It will be extremely dangerous

    You need a circuit breaker between SCR and BR. You need a DC choke between BR and motor.

    The idea is very nice but this controller might be too bulky for some applications... Will go along with the original plan of using an 220 volt AC speed controller with a bridge/rectifier hooked up to the output of the controller to get the DC - and + needed for the DC permanent magnet motor to run.... There are DC motor controllers for sale on eBay but they are the switched on/off type with the on/off switch as part of the variable resister and I don't want this !, as I want to be able use my own separate on/off rocker switch (or No Volt Release Switch) instead of using the control knob to turn my machine tools off and on - This has a clear advantage that the set speed of the motor will remain untouched when I turn the machine off and on...

    Hi my friend, got in doubt concerning to the diode. You say " in the reverse, grey side to the positive, black side to the negative" but looking carefully just at the moment of soldering with lots of pauses and zooms, it seems to me the grey side is being soldered to the negative and black to the positive, but forwarding to almost the end of the video I see, unless I'm mistaken, the black to the negative and grey to the positive, can you help me please? Forgive me , I am 61, not good eyes and know nothing about electronics and its components, try to understand, please !!! Thanks in advance

    Hi! Grey side to the positive and black side to the negative. It's placed to prevent any reverse current.

    Yes, but not all of them.. some are less amps while some are high. Also, the voltage needs to be increased for better circuit completion.

    Why do you keep revving up (the pot) all the time..??? You need to improve on soldering skills..and for high currents , wires need to be crimped with suitable lugs, not soldered......the two capacitors are unnecessary in ripple dc control.
