Make a Bowl Cozy with the Creative Grids Bowl Cozy Template

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today I'm back behind my Baby Lock Jubilant as I make a simple Bowl Cozy! This process is so much faster and easier with pre-cut batting shapes, and the Bowl Cozy Template by Creative Grids. In no time, I was able to whip up a Large Bowl Cozy, which was perfect for my casserole dish! It would also be great for keeping a large salad bowl cool (for all those Minnesota Salads that aren't really salads).
I used the Gypsy Quilter Pre-cut batting pieces, you can find them at this affiliate link: shrsl.com/3k4oo
And the Creative Grids Bowl Cozy Template can be found at this affiliate link:shrsl.com/3k4os
I'm sewing the bowl cozy on my Baby Lock Jubilant. This is a fantastic machine for a beginner or intermediate sewist or quilter. It easily stitches through the layers of the bowl cozy, and is simple to use. I often sew on this machine, and it is my go-to machine to take when I travel.

    Loved this video! I had ordered the bowl cozy templates but they came with no instructions. Thank goodness I sought You Tube for help, and found your tutorial. It was SO much easier than what I had used in the past. I was able to cut out, stitch and finish 10sets (4 bowls/set) for a total of 40 bowls for Christmas gifts - and the timed saved by using the templates and your video instructions was nothing short of amazing! So happy to find your channel!

    What works even better than the purple thing, is a big popsicle craft stick. The length makes it easy to handle, and the rounded edge works great on the curves. It also fits great in the seams cause its thin. I use it daily. Haven't broken it yet. And you get a bunch in a pack for really cheap.

    Early on you said the cut fabric fit perfectly on the batting piece, but at 9:24, when you sewed the darts, it is obvious that the fabric is larger than the batting by at least 1/4". So, which is it: a perfect fit or the fabric larger than the batting? I've always cut the fabric and the batting pieces the same size and have not had any trouble.

  • @CarolinaMoore

    @CarolinaMoore

    Жыл бұрын

    You cut them the same size. But, batting doesn't have any weave to it, so it can stretch during the process. It can also shift around under the fabric. It happens.

  • @CarolinaMoore

    Pellon, the maker of Wrap-N-Zap says to use only one layer of their product inside a cozy - I asked their customer service. The package says two layers of thickness is the maximum, and that’s what you get when you sew darts in one layer of batting. I followed the package instructions on how to preshrink the batting. Mine got nice and thick in most areas, but not evenly thick. I stitched around the perimeter close to the edge before I sewed the darts. That held the batting in place.
