Shoutout to SOHO Motorsports in Charlotte, NC for continually sharing the projects that they are getting to work on as they inspire us all!
They recently shared a build that had been brought to them for tuning--a 2014 Nizzan 370z--that ended up making OVER 400 whp and OVER 300 ft./lbs of torque!

    Uncommon opinion, but even 330 at the wheels on these cars is great. Not talking straight line racing, but a healthy 330ish on pump gas and a good tire and suspension setup is a ton of fun on a track with a light and reliable car like a 370z. To each their own but that money to get above 400 is hard to swallow lol. They're well balanced cars and can be extremely fun without spending too much, but respect for them pushing the engine and finding out what's possible.

    See a lot of people knocking the vq for being expensive to build, there are cheaper platform, i got a 6.1 hemi thats way cheaper to build and faster but i honestly enjoy driving my g37x more. Horsepower aint cheap no matter what. Personally I'd rather have na power for a daily for the reliability too. $10k maybe for boost but add another $10k or $15k for when you blow the motor or transmission. You can do boost reliably but most end up trying to push too much or don't do supporting mods. To each their own with cars though, ls, hemi, vq, k series, vr6, 2jz, whatever. Its better than a prius.

    Honestly that can’t be true. I watched a stock c8 corvette run 11.14 at 134mph in the 1/4 mile last weekend. C7s are fast but not that fast and it would take a bit more to get a 3,800lb car with only 400 wheel hit that number.

  • @lenwerksgt5906
    @lenwerksgt59063 жыл бұрын

    Eehhh they made the numbers on E75 tho. Tbh I was hoping for 400+ on pump. Still impressive to see. The only thing I would say is if you're on E then you'll have to live in the right area with an E station close by in order to make this work otherwise it only works for tracking. I'm wondering what the setup would push on pump. I'm guessing ballpark 380/390 range but idk would have to see it first. E doesn't make the biggest difference for N/A builds as most people would like to think. Having a FLEX kit is handy if you track your car often. I'm currently converting to flex on my build but I'm not expecting huge gains if I'm completely honest. Everyone around me is telling me I'm going to get like 100+ more whp converting over to E85. I honestly doubt that. It does make a difference but not to the extent that people play it up. I'm thinking 50 to 60 whp (at most).

  • @SpeedCultureStudios

    @SpeedCultureStudios

    3 жыл бұрын

    You’re right-gains on e are not all that impressive. I’ve seen several instances in full bolt on cases where going to e85 has netted 12-15hp on an NA vq. That’s pretty solid when you’re going from 335 to 350, knowing that we really can’t pull all that much out of the platform. But if you’re spending thousands in a stroker kit, 15hp doesn’t make all that much sense or seem all that necessary. I think you’re right about 380ish on pump gas. That’s a solid number, but I’m sure still looking at just barely 300tq which is disappointing. To me, if you can spend $2000-3000 to make 345-350 wheel, why spend another 10-12k to make only 380? I love seeing NA builds like this, but there are better ways to spend that kind of money.

  • @lenwerksgt5906

    @lenwerksgt5906

    @@SpeedCultureStudios Yeah. I mean, I built my block because I love the platform and I wanted to run boost safely. You see a lot of people throwing insane numbers on the stock block like 800 whp and then it's like...okay but how long is that actually going to last? I mean, realistically the stock rods start crapping out on 550+ whp. Doesn't matter how much supporting mods you're running. The stock rods and pistons were not made for that kind of power. I blew my motor hence why I just went balls to the wall with CP Pistons and Carrillo Pro H-Beam forged connecting rods with upgraded bolts and WPC treatment. I figured okay...I can either buy another block, blow that shit up....and then have to buy another block....or I can do it right and build a forged bottom end and not have to worry about it.

  • @SpeedCultureStudios

    @@jurzyjohner432 Yes, it can be expensive to get 400 on the vq. The reality though is that there are a ton of people with the vq37 that are not able to just go trade it in for a bmw or a new 3.0t q50 or a corvette or mustang or whatever. They have to work with what they have, which is the purpose of these videos. I think by now everyone knows what cars they could get to reach those hp numbers. However, you could just spend $1500 on the vq for a nitrous kit and hit 400+ pretty easily. Then you have it only when you need it, which is cool too. I think a properly maintained vq can handle a 100shot from time to time with no problems.

  • @SpeedCultureStudios

    @SpeedCultureStudios

    @@jurzyjohner432 We all understand that and I appreciate you sharing your experience, but that’s still not the point. The point of these videos is to show how people have accomplished certain goals with the platform. So a comment like “just go buy this car or that car” is irrelevant. We are all well aware of cars that make 400 or can make 500 with a tune etc. We aren’t watching these videos to get that answer. We own VQs so are interested in what people are doing with them. That’s all I was saying. And if you truly want to make 400hp, there are far better cars to do it in than a bmw! I loved my n54 335i and miss it everyday, but the amount of money it takes to keep that car reliable at 400+ hp is crazy. Same with n55. But again, the point is that there are people with the VQ platform that are interested in VQ information. No one cares about what other cars can do.
